December 8th, Las Vegas: The Backstreet Boys owned the Billboard Music Awards winning the Artist of the Year award as well as Album of the Year, for the nine-times platinum LP Millennium. The boys also won the Albums Artist of the Year and Albums Artist Duo/Group of the Year.
 
"I think we have to thank the younger generation of our music that's coming out, from Britney Spears to 'N Sync, who have helped re-create pop R&B," said Nick Carter when the band the Album of the Year award.
 
December 3rd, London. The Backstreet boys showed they truly are the band of the new millennium by picking up five major awards at the prestigious Smash Hits Awards: Best Band On Planet Pop, Best Non-British Band, Best Single of 1999 "I Want It That Way", Best Album of 1999 "Millennium" and Best Pop Video "Larger Than Life."
