A Message From Howie D.
Regarding the recent passing of my sister, Caroline Cochran.

The outpouring of emotion and sympathy I have received from the fans and the media has been overwhelming. Caroline was only 37 when she lost her battle with the disease called Lupus. This disease effects the immune system, often striking young people like my sister, in their prime.

I would request that instead of sending card and gifts in memory of my sister, a donation could be made to the fund I have established in her name. This donation would help towards the research of Lupus with hope a cure could be found, and no family would have to suffer a loss such as ours.

° More about the awards...all right, I heard that ALL the Backstreet Boys were supposed to come to the MMVA's, but they were doubled booked --- half for the awards and the other half at some charity thing in Orlando (???)

° I went down to MuchMusic this morning and tried to get wristbands for the 1998 MMVAs, but after waiting over an hour, they already gave away all the wristbands (I shouldda gone earlier) =+(...oh well. Maybe there'll be another way. =+) Wonderin' why I went down there? Well there's gonna be awesome groups performing at the MMVAs PLUS Howie and AJ are gonna be there! (It's on MuchMusic this Thursday [the 24th] @ 8pm est)

° Last Saturday, Howie's sister died from lupus. The guys had to cancel their show in Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN for the first time in their 6 years of touring. Caroline Yvonne Cochran was 37 seven years old at the time. (It was published in the papers and said on the news that she was 25, but she wasn't.)

° I also heard that Brian and Kevin's grandfather also died

° Nick's got a girlfriend?!?! (according to the latest US Magazine)- 'Kay I got this info from the news group news:alt.fan.backstreet.boys.

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone else got the new issue of US? It
doesn't really have any new pics of the guys. Just one of Howie and some
fans. Anyways, Nick has a girlfriend. I'll copy the exact words from the
mag. " When Carter is asked about a puppy he and his girlfriend bought the
day before, he is apoplectic. 'Who says it was my girlfriend?' he says.
'That was my cousin. Right now my love is the music." But backstage, just
before the Boys go on, Carter turns to his platinum-blond 'cousin,' embraces
her and gives her a long, deep kiss." It also says "When a young blonde is
referred to as Littrell's girlfriend, Richardson immediately snaps. 'She's a
friend. We don't have girlfriends. You really can't in this business." Also,
they say who AJ's girlfriend is! "He just booked a flight to see Amanda
Latona, 18, of the Orlando-based girl group Innosense, when they have a day
off between concerts. ' We were with each other every minute of every day
for the month before the tour.' he says.
Remember, I read this in US magazine. I just thought I should let all of

°ATTENTION ALL CANADIANS: As you may know, (if you've been watching MuchMusic that is) MuchMusic is gonna have their 1998 MuchMusic Video Awards later this month. Anyway, the Backstreet Boys have been nominated for best international group. They're up against Hanson, Spice Girls, Savage Garden and Aqua. You can vote for 'em at the MuchMusic Website. I think it's for Canadians only. Also, you only have 'til September 6th to vote for them in this category. So please go vote! It doesn't take that long!
