The Real Rasta

Yes I n I am a real Rasta, I'm American but I can chat Patois if the need arises. I would say if you consider yourself Rasta, and you live an Ital life, following the teachings of his Majesty, than you are a Rasta regardless of dreads, color or whatever. As Bob Marley said "Every man is born a Rasta, its just that some take longer to realize it than others" I do have dreads (I've had them for over 5 years now). there are only 10,00 rastas in the UK? Wow, I have no idea how many there are in the US, there are a ton in Chicago, and a ton in my neighborhood. Not to be a cheesehead or anything, but part of the reason I love and spin Ragga is my being a Rasta, I spin positive music to enlighten people, I'm doing my part spreading the word of Jah and teaching thru example, you may think this is shite and i'm a wiener but that's ok, I'll keep on movin' forward. That is one of the reasons I love Congo Natty, positive Rasta samples, not gun toting gansta-jungle(and BTW I had my DJ name long before I even heard of the record label and at first I didn't want to buy< anything by them due to the coincidence, but once I listened to it, I knew that this is what I was trying to say too) as far as the working thing I would say no, not working isn't part of being a Rasta, disdain for the system and its side effects is. The best way to destroy a system is from the inside out, it could be said that the use of technology is anti rasta, I don't believe this, i feel that to learn technology and use it to positive ends is truly Rasta. to gain knowledge and overcome in the name of respect is Rasta. To have respect for all living things is Rasta. The only Rastas that aren't working to survive are ones in JA that live on the beach and eat fish, respect to them. But to live in america and not be a homeless person takes evil money, and to get money you must work, so I do. I have a family and a house and stuff, i buy records and use a car, these all take money. i went to college for art and i work at an art job, so I don't feel that i've sold out at all. If I was say working for a political party that would be anti-rasta. Bob Marley worked, the Skatalites, Haile Selasie HIMself worked, etc. You all may think I'm a sappy dork for these thoughts but again its cool, be who you need to be, I'll still give you respect. Your all doing jah's work wether you realize it or not.

respect to all
Natty
