Because this song is in 9/8, it's essential to get a feel for strumming
nine beats per measure, or three groups of three beats. The natural
inclination may be to feel the beat as 6/8 because it's a more familiar
meter. Resist this temptation! Listen to the intro again and feel the
three main downbeats in the measure rather than all nine beats. Once you
get a feel for strumming this way, try playing the verse.

(3), (6), (9) indicate how many beats to play each chord. I've tried to
divided the lines into nine-beat measures. The strumming and chord
changes
get more difficult during the last section; try playing along with the
record a few times if my notation doesn't make sense to you. You'll get
it.
