My personal thoughts on each CS album...
"Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid" - 1994:
Pretty Good album. The quality of it isn't too great, though. As the story goes, this was recorded as a demo but never rerecorded professionally. It has that cool "raw" quality to it, though. The lyrics are heartfelt and "deep." This album was mostly the sole product of Ed. This album ranks 4th of all their albums for me.
"Collective Soul" - 1996:
Great album! "December" and "The World I Know" were hits, and for obvious reasons. This one is self-titled because it was the first "real" Collective Soul album. The music is awesome, the lyrics are touching, and I think this is their 2nd best album.
"Disciplined Breakdown" - 1997:
Good album. The song "Precious Declaration" rips open the record. The video for this song also happens to be my fav CS vid. CS was having some legal problems at the time of this album, and I think it shows in some of the songs. More heartfelt lyrics and great riffs. Their 3rd best, IMO.
"Dosage" - 1999:
Excellent Album! I LOVE this album with a passion that cannot be described. All of the songs are masterfully constructed. CS pushed the envelope for themselves and emerged with excellence. I think this album tested alot of techniques and musical boundaries for CS. I can't say enough good things about this album. To me, this is CS at their best, by far!
"Blender" - 2000:
"Okay" album. Hmm...this one was a disappointment after the excellence that was "Dosage". I think, at this time, CS might have been in a little bit of a hurry to finish up with Atlantic. I can't say I blame them, but this album suffered for it. If that wasn't the case, I don't know what happened here. "Perfect Day" is a good song, but this album just never touches that old CS magic.
Thats what I have to say. Now, go back to My Main CS Page
