ELVIS CRESPO: PINTAME

Elvis Crespo is an amazing Merengue singer who has captured the world.  His debut solo album
“Suvamente,” was one of the best album of 1998.  He exploded into the scene and proved that he could do
it on his own.  After leaving his group “Grupo Mania,” he came back as a solo artists and had the greatest
success of his life.  Even when he was in “Grupo Mania,” he had never had such success.  Now, he is back
with a second solo album and he has disappointed his fans.  Many people have this album, but not many of
them like it.  Many of them think it's kind of lame.  Let's just hope this album won't prevent the great sales
for his 3rd album, if there is one.  The problem with this album is that Elvis Crespo has changed his style a
bit and usually this become a huge disappointment for the fans.  This album reminds people of the album by
Enrique Iglesias, “Cosas del amor”.  The album was more romantic.  The latest from Elvis Crespo
“Pintame,” is more romantic and it lacks those great heavy Merengue sounds.  It's still Merengue, but in a
softer way.  When fans hear the name “Elvis Crespo,” they think of the song “Suavemente” and it's hard
amazing beats that make you want to dance.  This album seems to repeat the same beats in almost every
song.  This album seems more like his Freshman album rather than his Sophomore album.

The album starts out with the chart topping hit “Pintame.” The song is very hip, one of the best
songs on the album, and a bit funky.  “Beso de coral,” is a very amazing and booty shaking track.  Then
there is the song “ven,” which is a very hip, but honest song.  “Solo me miro,” doesn't seem to impress you
much with it's funky beats.  One of the best songs on the album is “Si tu te alejas.”  It's a very sad and
honest song.  Other good songs include “Vuelve conmigo,” “Dame carino,” “Por el caminito,” “Enamorado
de ti,” and more.
Is this album worth your money?  You have to think about it.  If you like Latin music, you should
probably get it.  If you are a fan, you should hear it first.
