The school shooting in Colorado
brought a lot of controversy. People started blaming the easiest
things they could get their hands at. Christians and many others blamed
the rock star Marilyn Manson. Others blamed videogames like Doom.
That were first person shooters and you shoot whatever you want in the
game. Other people decided to blame movies like The Matrix and some
other movie with Leonardo Dicaprio, where he shot a couple of students
in a school. But is entertainment to be blamed?
I don't think we should blame
the easiest things we can get our things on. The problem is not entertainment.
The problem is that these young people can't tell the difference between
what's real and what's fantasy. Only a person with the right
mind would know this. It's not entertainment. No matter what
people do, these things can't be prevented. Entertainment has part
of the blame, but only to a degree. There are some other things out
there besides entertainment that cause violence. The first step is
not to attack entertainment. The first step is to get together as
people and try to solve this in a patient manner. To take your time, even
thought you act fast.
Another step to this problem
is to do something with guns. Young people get these weapons and
they don't know what they are doing when they are angry. Their anger
is so huge, that they eventually regret what they have done, after the
crime. With no weapons around maybe there won't be any deaths.
What makes these young people
act like this? I wouldn't say it's entertainment. It's rather
the pressure or hatred that other people give them. They are mistreated
and schools seem to do nothing about it. Schools are not acting as
they should. Schools always tell their students to talk to your counselors,
but counselors aren't always going to help you. Sometimes they are
busy and have no time to talk to you. Other times you may go to a
teacher, but they don't seem to mind. Some of them just ignore you,
because they might be having a bad day. When these young people have
nobody to talk to their anger keeps growing and none of it is being released.
This anger becomes so huge that it eventually blows up, just like a balloon.
Marilyn Manson seems to look
very devil-like and that's why people seem to hate him. The moment
they look at him the first thing they say is "gay," "the devil," or "the
antichrist." But is this man really what he seems? We do not
know this man and we judge him by these things. Deep inside he could
be a very nice person. It's kind of like "don't judge a book by it's
cover." Marilyn Manson might be acting. Kind of like expressing
himself, but this may be his character in music, but at home he may be
a different person.
All I have to say is "LOOK
BEFORE YOU LEAP." Don't just go out there and make up something.
Don't judge someone or something before you know it.
