THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED AVENUE
                                          By Roberto Carlos Martinez

Chapter 1

My 26-year-old husband slowly drove up the driveway.  I looked at the house in Haunted avenue, it stood on a hill surrounded by trees at its sides.  It was huge.  It looked like it had 3 floors.  How could we have afforded something like this?  John had said it was pretty cheap, but this house reminded me of a mansion.  John said, "Do you think the house is nice Jenny?"  I said, "John, I think it's amazing."  We slowly walked out of the car.  We could see this lady walk by.  She was wearing a pair of shorts and a top.  She said, "Hi, how are you doing?"  "You are new here right?"  I said, "Yes, we are just moving here today."  "Where do you live?" asked the lady.  John said, "We live in that house right there, just up the hill."  The lady looked at us, frightened.  She started running and just left.  John looked at me wondering why the lady didn't even say bye.
We slowly started to walk up the hill.  John and I froze for a minute.  Up on top of the ceiling we could see a woman running and screaming.  She was in underwear and bra.  She was screaming and screaming.  I rubbed my eyes gently to make sure I wasn't imagining this.  As I rubbed my eyes the woman disappeared.  I held my baby tightly in my arms.  John and I just looked at each other for a minute.  John said, "come on, I want you to see the house.  John opened the door and I was amazed.  The house was huge.  I looked up at the ceiling and it was amazing.  There were stairs going up to the next floor.  He said, "Come on, let's go upstairs to see where our room will be."  I said, "How many rooms does this house have?" John said, "Well, there are 4 rooms in each floor and 2 in the basement.
The whole day we unpacked stuff.  The house looked beautiful.  We looked at all the rooms except for the ones in the basement.  John said, "It's pretty late, we should do the basement tomorrow and go to sleep right now."  I said, "Yeah, we can do that later."  John said, "Take the baby up to the crib and I will be there in a few minutes."  I walked up the stairs with the baby and went to our room.  The baby seemed asleep.  After all he was less than one month old and he sleeps a lot.   As I walked in the room I laid the baby in our bed just for a moment, until I brushed my teeth.  I was going to change him and get him ready for bed.  I laid the baby right in the middle of our bed.  I walked into the bathroom and brushed my teeth.    When I came out I froze where I was.  Goosebumps started to run down my spine.  Where was the baby?  I left him on the bed and he wasn't there?

Chapter 2

I looked around for a minute.  I walked near the door and I couldn't believe my eyes.  The baby was on the  left side of the bed on the floor.  How could he have gotten there?  He is not even a month old and he couldn't have fallen off the bed by himself.  My hands started shaking as I picked up the baby.  At that moment John came in and looked at me.   He said, "Why are your hands shaking, are you okay?"  I explained everything to him and he thought it was my imagination.  I said, "Yeah, it probably is."  He said, "You are only 16 and you have a nice imagination."  I laid the baby on the crib and we fell asleep.
I looked at the clock.  It's only midnight.  I could hear a woman screaming.  They were screams of fear.  I could feel goosebumps going down my spine.  I tapped John on the back and said, "John wake up, someone is screaming."  I tapped hi about 10 times and he wouldn't wake up.  He was still snoring.  I slowly got up and looked at the baby.  He was alright, just sleeping fine.  I opened the door and I could still here those screams.  Even though I was frightened I knew I had to know where those screams were coming from.  I turned on the hallway light.  Now I could hear the screams.  They were coming from below. As I went down the stairs I turned on every light.
Finally, I was in the kitchen.  The screams seemed to get louder and louder.  They gave me chills.  Now, I knew where the screams were coming from.  They were coming from the basement.  I turned the door knob and the door wouldn't open.  John had the keys to the door.  I had to go back up all over again and get them.  As I was going back upstairs I heard the screams come closer. I looked up the stairs and there was a woman with blonde long hair running nude down the stairs.  She looked at me with these frightened eyes.  She reminded me of a poor mice.  She looked so scared and she wouldn't stop screaming.  I froze and at that moment I couldn't move.  I stayed like that for more  than a moment.  The woman kept running and screaming.  Before I knew it the woman disappeared through the basement door.  As she got to the basement door, she just went through it.
