I went to the Philly show last nite with Liz Phair opening up and
was, unfortunatly, disappointed. Liz, whom i love, played for just over
1/2 hour with little to no response from the audience, which actually
surprised me. She played songs from her different albums and said that her
fav song was this one she played from Exile in Guyville (i forget
the name). But i was eagerly anticipating some of my favs, all from
Whip-Smart. namely, Shane and Alice Springs but she only played
SuperNova.
she got off stage around 9:30 or so and i contemplated leaving as
well, but figured i'd stay for some of alanis' set for lack of anything
better to do that nite. not to flame or put down any alanis fans, but i
don't understand why so many people are crazy for her? in my opinion,
phair's voice is by FAR superior to alanis' and is much more creative in
her songwriting and hormonies. oh well. whatever.
