Veruca Salt/FigDish/Local H
Deep Ellum Live, Dallas, Texas-August 5, 1997
Opening acts for Veruca Salt were FigDish and Local H -- great choices because the chemistry between the bands was electric, with members continually playing pranks on each other, both on and off stage. While the openers got the crowd going, everyone eagerly awaited Veruca Salt's entrance. When the lights went out, Veruca Salt took the stage by storm, and the crowd went wild.
Blasting off with "Straight" the band's set also included "Venus Man Trap" and "Spiderman '79." Their performance was a strong and a real crowd pleaser, and the audience in front was furiously moshing and surfing. Before you knew it, it was over. Nina and Louise announced the end and thanked the crowd. One of the last songs "Volcano Girls," started the crowd up again, with a demand for encores. The concert was exciting and a great end to Veruca Salt's U.S. tour. Here's hoping they come back soon. (Isaac Kiehl)--Harder Beat
