Bruce Dickinson Rock City 8/8/97

I received a review of the Bruce show from August 8, at Rock City. The review came from John Oakley. Visit his home page I hope to get some photos from the show soon. Anyways, Here is what John had to say:

Bruce was amazing! He started with Accident of Birth, then played another of the new album. They sound like the classics maiden never wrote already! (sorry I cant remember the names of the new songs on the new album yet as I haven't got the album with me at work but I know they played "Darkside of Aquarius," and "Road to Hell," and some others).

Three songs in the Trooper kicked in and we all went bezerk - many a bruised rib down the front and bruce was giving it all the "Scream for me Rock City" bit which was fantastic to hear again. What really made the gig for me were the classics that I never thought I'd hear." About midway through we heard a familiar deep demonic laugh followed by a "cerchunk cerchunk kerchunk" of guitars and I couldn't believe it Bruce was playing "Powerslave". We screamed the words out barely remembered from the Live After Death tour but so influential on our youth. Amazing! A few songs later they kicked in with Flight of Icarus - a song I haven't heard live for ages and then my another of my all time favorites - one of the many encores "Prisoner" - We Want Information - a classic again!

They also played, "Tears Of the Dragon," "Shoot all the clowns" - I think (may be not...), Laughing in the hiding bush and of course... Tattooed Millionaire".

Just watching Bruce with Adrian was amazing and left me longing for a maiden reunion tour. Tribe of Gypsies were good but I would have preferred Davey, Steve and Nicko....if you know what I mean.

All in all it was an amazing gig - one of the best I've seen in recent memory - although I have seen a few classic gigs recently..
