Wow..I've seen Bruce many, many times but what a show. I remember the Balls tour when the crowds were minimal to say the least, so thank you to everyone for making this show a sell out, yes, a sell out. My friends and me got there early, well, you've got to get your position haven't you??, front barrier, centre, same as every Bruce gig !!!!

Two support bands tonight, the first being Sack Trick. I'm sure some of you know their bass player, a guy by the name of Chris Dale.remember him ?? I really enjoyed their set, a quirky, strange and very original sort of music. Sounds a little like Primus, if you can imagine that. I think the majority of the crowd was a little unsure what to make of them, but I liked them so much I bought their CD after the show. Turns out Alex Dickson and Alessandro Elena are also members, although they didn't play tonight. The drummer is the drummer with a band called Rachael Stamp, and having seen them before I never fail to enjoy his performance. It was kind of weird to see Chris supporting Bruce though, the Skunkworks band of Chris, Alex and Alessandro being my fave Bruce line-up, but times moves on and I'd hardly consider Ade Smith a substitute !!!!

Next up was Killed to This.two words for these guys if their reading this.White Zombie. Sorry, their set was lost on me (I didn't ask, I couldn't see). Their stage presence was good but the music got a little boring after about two songs. Didn't really enjoy them, but some of the crowd did. Then onto the reason why we were there. For those who have seen the show you'll know that the first 6 songs are linked by Bruce doing his little speech things whilst stood over a red footlight.very spooky. I do like Chemical Wedding (the album), maybe not as much as Accident of Birth, but it isn't far behind, so it was interesting to hear some of those songs live. I'd say Killing Floor stood out as the one that works best live. Bruce was all over the place as usual, I'm sorry, but having seen Blaze Bayley a few times I just can't help but think what Maiden would be like with this guy back amongst the ranks. He works the crowd so well. After Book of Thel Bruce explains about Chemical Wedding and how the songs are all linked, and now, for my money, the real set begins. Dragon, Hiding Bush (nice to see that back in the set) and Accident of Birth. If that little trio didn't get the heart pumping nothing would. The crowd is getting more and more feverish with every song. The Tower sounded good live and then into one of my faves in Darkside. A nice long intro by Bruce explaining about the millennium and people like Bill Gates, whom I get the impression he doesn't like, and then into Darkside of Aquarius. I glance around and the crowd is getting near fever pitch. I know what's coming next, most of the crowd don't. Bruce begins the Number of the Beast speech, finishing with the lines "And it is a human number.it's number is.Powerslave". Cue the drum intro and away we go, the crowd goes absolutely mental. Yes, yes, YES !!!!!!!! We knew every word, we sang our hearts out, but all to quickly it was over. The song was finished and Bruce departed the stage. The crowd are crying for more, surely that can't be the end. Re-enter Bruce with a smile from here to Los Angeles, he introduces the band now. Is it me or does the guru look like The Edge from U2 ?? He also informs us that tonight was a sell out. Tattooed Millionaire kicks of the encore, then another Maiden classic in the shape of 2 Minutes to Midnight. You can guess the crowd's reaction to that one !!!! The band departs again only to reappear not long after. Bruce tells the crowd that the security staff had opened the doors, they wanted us all to go home. A big boo comes from the crowd. Bruce, the man that he is basically said screw them, and the band burst into Road to Hell. Bruce isn't finished yet though. Always leave them wanting more is my motto, and Bruce followed this to the letter by ripping through that old Maiden classic that is "Flight of Icarus". Incredible !!!! The house lights come on and it's time to go home. I'm sure everyone enjoyed themselves tonight, the crowd seemed really appreciative. Well, that's it. We're off to Nottingham tonight for another fix. Same again sir ??...Yes please !!!!!!!
