Millencolin recorded some demos and ended up with the demo Melack. That demo became the basis of the coming 6-track single "Use your nose". The single was released in september 1993. The band started to play gigs and when the time got close to sometime in may 1994 Millencolin released their second 6-track single, "Skauch". The record had only two songs made by Millencolin and the rest was covers from bands like Operation Ivy and Descendents.
Already the same year Millencolin released "Tiny Tunes", more exactly in september. The song "Da strike" went up to number nine on the Swedish charts and the album was a success. The video to the song also started to appear on several Swedish tv-channels. The record sold over 20.000 copies the first months, and that's very good for an underground-band like this. In february the 4-track single "Da strike" was released. The summer of -95 became a very hectic summer for Millencolin. They practicaly played on every single festival there was to play that summer, and that was a lot. They also went on tour with the Swedish punk-band, No Fun At All, to Japan and made a lot of gigs in German.
After the hectic summer, the
band went into the studio to record another album. They ended up with a
3-track single, named "The story of my life", which was released in september
1995. The album was released on the 9th of October and was very welcomed
by the fans. The album name was "Life on a plate" and is probably one of
the best albums made in the world of all times. The album went straight
up on 4th place on the Swedish charts and the band had a giant release-party
home in Örebro. The video to "The story of my life" was released and
got played everywhere. The American independent-label, Epitaph, got intrested
of Millencolin. And decided to release "Life on a plate" on their label.
And that...ladies and gentlemen.. proves that the records holds a quite
high standard. Millencolin went out on tour again and went to America for
a small tour. Sometime in May ( I think ), Millencolin released another
single, the 3-track single "Move your car". The single contained the song
"Move your car", from the album, and two new recordings of two songs from
the Melack-demo.
The summer of '96 was also a
quite big summer for Millencolin with loads of gigs, mostly in Germany
and America though. Sometime in the beginning of 1997, Millencolin went
into Unisound (their studio) to record their third album "For Monkeys".
In March a single was released and it got to be called "Lozin' must". The
album was released on the 21th of April in Sweden and it revealed a new
and more mature side of Millencolin. The album is about half of an hour...less
ska and not so many fast ones...more poppy, pushy songs...probably those
that they do best now. The album is one of the best albums released on
this planet, according to me. If you haven't got it yet...go and get it...it's
defenately worth the money. Millencolin are now starting their world tour.
It's really a fact that they are getting a big band outside Europe now.
Right now ( while writin' ), the band are on tour in America, playin' at
the "Warped Tour" toghether with royalties like Pennywise and Lag Wagon.
So.......get a grip and hold on.......cuz' Millencolin will defenately
kick some butt in the future !!!
