Be patient, I KNOW you are all dying to get to this site, but it is still under construction... :)
I figured if you are going to come out of your shell (to some extent) you might as well REALLY come out of your shell. Since I started on this webpage about a month ago, I have been contemplating doing a little something on me, you know, just to stroke my own ego. But, sometimes, anonymity is much better. My more egotistical side got the better of me though, and I couldn't resist being able to talk about myself for just a minute or two. So bear with me, some of my own interests are considered a little dull for someone my age. But individuality is what makes the world go around. When you can stand up and say this is me and these are the things I like, you find a certain peace with yourself. So to those who haven't figured out what they want out of life or "who" they are, try saying it out loud. You find it becomes more real for you, and start getting a picture of who "you" are, and not who you think you should be.
A good book is one of the truly best ways to relax. I find it to be much better than TV or the Internet. One of the last virtues of our humanity is our imagination, and what better way to use them than to play out the scenes of our favorite book in our head? My favorite authors or novelists are Henry Thoreau, Edgar Allen Poe, H.G. Wells, Oscar Wilde, and Jane Austen. (Can you imagine? Jane Austen and Oscar in the same sentence, its almost indecent?!) :)
My favorite period of history is from 60 BC to 1699 AD European history (especially British history). These are the most interesting times of the world in my opinion, and I could spend hours poring over books on this subject. My favorites are the Druids (pre-Roman Britian and Wales), the Celts, the Gauls (French), Napoleon, Richard (the Lionhearted) and John (his "evil" brother)Plantaganet, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Charles II, William and Mary Orange, Winston Churchill, and of course King Arthur, who could not love King Arthur (who wasn't a wholly ficticous character)?
This is truly a way to keep thoughts in order, and be your own therapist. Write everything down, and you can't go wrong. After a while you can get pretty good at it, too. :) A good way to start is to list, or just brainstorm on a subject or thought. You never know, you might have an Ernest Hemingway hiding inside you.
Music truly is the language of the soul, and we all know the effect a song can have on us. Some of my favorits are naturally, the Bee Gees, but also the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Indigo Girls and Bonnie Raitt. I also like "New" Age, although this music is more like "old" age. Music like Gregorian chants and Celtic, folk and classical music has been around a lot longer than Rock-n-Roll, we just forgot it. I like Enigma, Enya, Bryan McNeill, and Clannad, just to name a few.
This subject is laughed at by some, and you must have a pretty open mind to pursue it, but it makes for great reading. The more you learn about things like astronomy, myths, legends, and gothic tales... the more you want to learn. Who can't resist a good ghost story?
Here are some of my personal favorite links...(besides Bee Gees sites) :)
