Geri had many jobs. But some of her first jobs were in Majorca.
She first worked in a nightclub, where she danced to earn her money. While it sounded like a dream to many, it was a nightmare for Geri. It meant little money, working late (often until 4am), and drunk men standing around her, pointing and staring.Geri grew restless of her job, so she headed off to work as a model; also in Majorca. Geri was surprised that people would even want to look at her.
"I never considered myself pretty enough to go in front of a camera," she admitted later.
But she soon ditched that job, too. She wanted to see as much of Europe as she could before she went home - so she headed off to Turkey.
She landed herself a job as a TV presenter - but not even as a hostess. (She couldn't speak a word of Turkish) She was simply one of the women dressed up in sparkly dresses, displaying prizes on a gameshow.. but it all became too much. Geri had to go back to England.
Her luck ran out on jobs after that; she kept changing her mind about what she wanted to do; where she wanted to go in life. In the space of a few months, she had worked as a barmaid, an aerobics instructor, and a cleaner. But she soon resorted back to modeling.
This time, it was for her to be the new 'Page 3 Girl' for a newspaper. This meant posing topless for the photographers, and her country to see. She didn't enjoy that much, either- but it paid well.
But then, perhaps the most important part in Geri's life came... the advert in the Stage advertising auditions for a sensational all female band. More of the story to come in part 3....
