The second time Reviver performed at the Swollish Popfront can definetely be added to the band's list of the more succesfull performances. Backed up by a superb sound and good songs the band inspired quite some headbang sessions in the audience.During the gig the band played a handfull of new songs, combined with the material that was released on the selftitled mcd. The new songs sounded easily as good as the old material, but somehow didn't set the crowd alight as much. That is not a crime tough, because Reviver's more complex songs take some time before they are fully appreciated. All the bands songs where skilfully played, which brings us to the bands strongest point: it's guitairplayers. The two guitairists Tom and Fred are two greet muscisians, and where capable of playing quite some complex solo's, which makes this band quite attractive to people who are muscisians themselves. That is, providing that they don't mind the thin vocals. Because frankly, the vocal's didn't do this band any justice. Despite his good presentation, singer Frans jus't doesn't cut it. During the performance he seemed lacking in volume and power, and was occasionally struggling for breath.
Nevertheless a cover of Iron Maidens Powerslave was a definete highlight of the show, and it was sung along by the crows at a volume the one would think make ANY neighbour complain. For fans of true metal Reviver and supportband Black Knight (who replaced the cancelled BattleHeart) provided another one of those great evenings.
