Weeks passed, and Sarah and Kevin both fell into their own daily routines. They were happy, and they were together, that was all that seemed to matter to Sarah. She counted the seconds until she was next to him, and even his scent drove her crazy. "That is, when I get to smell him." Sarah thought to herself. She leaned back under the warm water coursing out of the shower nozzle, and moved her thick, wet hair off her neck.
She was upset. She hardly saw Kevin anymore, he was always in the studio, writing tracks, even though they were nowhere near recording songs for the new album. He woke her up before he left, early in the morning, and when he got home, was so tired he could barely speak to her. He just kissed her and slept. "I'm going to go see him." Sarah whispered to no one as she spread country apple body wash over her body, wishing her hands were Kevin's, wishing he would stand behind her, work the body wash into a lather, and run it down her arms..."Don't think of that." She commanded herself "That'll only make you crazy."
Desperately trying to keep her mind off of Kevin, she finished her shower, switched off the water and stepped out into the bathroom, grabbing a towel. Once Sarah was dressed, she slid on a pair of sunglasses, and walked out the door towards the elevator with a smile on her face. She was going to go to Kevin. And she was going to make him see how much she needed him...
Sarah climbed out of the cab in front of Jive studios, paid the cabby, and walked confidently inside. She didn't bother to speak to the receptionist; she knew where to find Kevin. Sarah quickly weaved in and out of hallways, a smile on her face, and then abruptly stopped in front of the set of rooms the boys were occupying. She pulled open the first door and walked into a small entrance room, letting the door snap shut behind her. Then she slowly pulled open the second door that led to the writing room, and leaned against the door frame. "O Kevin..." She called out in a sing-song voice, just above a whisper. "Can I talk to you?" She smiled to herself as the 5 heads all grouped around the piano snapped up and turned to face her.
"Sarah..." Kevin smiled, running his hand through his hair, and straightening up, "What are you doing here?" Sarah smiled back at Kevin, but didn't overlook the fact that Brian had whipped the music off the piano rack, and all 5 of the guys looked suspiciously guilty. Sarah ignored it though, her eyes were on Kevin, her mind was on Kevin, and everything about him was making her excited. Sarah smiled slowly, and motioned for him to follow her into the other room, letting her eyes talk for her, and seeing Kevin grin back at her.
Once the two were alone, and the door was shut, Sarah looked straight at Kevin and said slowly, carefully "I miss you Kevin. I miss seeing you in the morning. I miss talking to you over dinner. I hate eating alone; I hate spending the day alone. But most of all I miss your lips..." At that, Sarah drew herself up next to Kevin, and ran her fingers over his lips, while biting her own, and resisting her urge to grab him. Kevin did it for her though.
He wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her deeply, hungrily, sliding his tongue into her mouth. Sarah responded to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, moving her own tongue under his and sliding her body up against his, moving against him, thinking to herself "O god I missed this." As Kevin's lips and tongue moved onto her neck and then down to her shoulder, a small moan escaped her lips, and she moved her fingers through Kevin's hair. She moved his lips back onto hers as she felt his hands slip up the back of her shirt, and move to the clasp of her bra. He undid it, and moved his hands onto her breasts as he once again kissed her. Then the pair stood silently as Kevin pulled away, and snapped her bra back together, looking down at her large eyes, and love swollen lips.
"I'm sorry..." He faltered, averting his eyes from her, and staggering back to a seat against the wall.
"What?" Sarah asked, brushing her hair out of her eyes, and searching for his face in the darkness that surrounded to the wall he sat against. "What's wrong?" Kevin slid forward into the light; his face pulled into a mask that held no feelings, it was just...blank.
"I'm sorry." Kevin murmured again, clearing his throat. He stared straight ahead, his eyes dark, his jaw hard. "I didn't mean to lose control, I-I usually don't."
"Nothing is wrong Kevin." Sarah murmured, her voice soothing to his ears "I missed you...I guess you missed me...we haven't been together in a while...things were bound to happen." Sarah reached out and took Kevin hand, then slowly walked forward and moved his chin up so he was looking at her. "Kevin...I miss you." Her voice faltered, "Please come home and spend some time with me." Kevin put his arms around Sarah's waist and pulled her down into his lap, kissing her behind her ear, through her hair.
"I'm sorry Sarah. I'm sorry for leaving you alone, for not being there." Kevin leaned his head against hers, "You know that I get wrapped up in the music, I forget what's most important...not anymore though." Kevin stood up and stuck his head back into the writing room "You guys, I'm going home ok? Ummm, Brian, if you wanna finish the last chorus to the new song go ahead. Then he shut the door once again, and led Sarah out to the street in front of the studio.
Kevin put Sarah into a taxi, and then told her he was going to get one of his own. "Where are you going??" Sarah asked, her voice rising in pitch.
"Sarah, don't worry." Kevin leaned down into the taxi, smiling at her tone. "I have to take care of one thing ok? I'll be home really soon." Then Kevin put a soft kiss on her lips, and shut the car door.
Sarah sat in the cab in silence, her arms folded, her eyes smoldering. "I'm such a fool." She thought to herself, "He's probably back in the studio, hanging with the guys...I swear to GOD! What the hell? After what I told him? DAMN! Sometimes, I swear..."
"Ummm, excuse me, miss?" Sarah was jarred out of her train of thought, and sat forward quickly.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She said, obviously embarrassed as she reached for her purse. After Sarah had paid the cabby, she started up the walk towards the apartment, smiling to the doorman as he held the door open for her, and whispered in her ear,
"Watch out for the psycho photographers ok?"
"Sure." Sarah smiled back, then walked briskly towards the elevator, and pressed the '12' button. She leaned back against the wall, and sighed as she traveled up to the penthouse. "Kevin..." she asked inwardly as she headed down the hall to the apartment, "Where the hell did you go?"
About half an hour later Kevin walked through the door. "Sarah?! Where are you? I need to talk to you!" Kevin yelled as he closed the door behind him, a big grin on his face. Sarah appeared at the top of the stairs, one hand on the railing, the other on her hip.
"Where were you?" She asked coldly, as she stared at Kevin, her eyes watering just a bit.
"Sarah...are you mad? What's wrong?" Kevin asked as he climbed the stairs towards her, concerned.
"Why did you leave? Kevin I told you..." But Sarah trailed off as Kevin pulled something out of his pocket. He held them up in front of her, and smiled. "Plane tickets...to Kentucky? Kevin, what's going on?!"
"Just you and me, the whole weekend." Kevin murmured in her ear, as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down a stair to him. "We leave tomorrow, and we're staying in the guesthouse behind Jerald's place, on his farm. I decided we needed to get out away from the city, I want to take you home, and introduce you to my family." Kevin leaned down and touched his lips to hers, just barely kissing her. "I understand what you said Sarah." He whispered, her lips still brushing hers as he spoke. "I'm really sorry...forgive me??"
"Of course." Sarah whispered back to him. "How can I ever hold a grudge against a man who's so deliciously sexy? I can't wait to meet Jerald, and Tim, and your mom and Madison...but right now...I just want to be reintroduced to Kevin ok?"
"Thought you'd never ask…" Kevin replied, kissing her for real this time. "Sarah…you do know exactly what I feel for you right? Because I thought with this whole 'never home' thing that maybe you weren't sure..."
"Shhhhhh." Sarah smiled, "Kevin...you talk to much. Just kiss me." And as Kevin did, he could feel her smile.......
Sarah woke up the next morning not remembering ever going to sleep. Kevin lay next to her, one arm thrown around her waist, and his hair all tousled. Sarah leaned down close to him, and spoke in his ear. "Kevin, wake up...we gotta catch a plane...KEVIN!" Only after Sarah had yelled did Kevin snap himself up, and look around. Sarah pushed Kevin off the bed and onto the floor, and then got up herself. She looked around the room, and saw their packed bags next to the door, the tickets lying on top. "When did all this happen?" She asked.
"You feel asleep really early...but you packed, you don't remember?" Kevin muttered; his voice still slurred from his sleep.
"No...oh well." Sarah replied dismissing the thought from her mind as she dressed next to Kev, pulling on loose khaki bellbottoms and a GAP tee-shirt.
Once the 2 were dressed, they both grabbed some bags and walked out the door to the elevator. On the way down Kevin ran her through the whole airport drill for a second time. "Just keep walking, smile, don't really talk.."
"Kevin, I know all this. We've done this before, remember? It's gonna be ok." Kevin smiled, and took her hand, leading her out the door, and into the waiting car.
"Sarah you do know we're flying on a public plane with over people..."
"…and teenage girls." Sarah finished for him. "That's ok, I can share you for a few hours." Then Sarah leaned against Kevin, and stared out the window of the car, looking at the city buildings passing by, and thinking how she would be in Kentucky soon, with Kevin and his family, on the farm. "I seriously can't wait." Sarah said to herself as she saw the airport out the window of the car.
Sarah watched as Kevin checked their bags, and then wrapped his hand around hers and took her through the airport. "Damn, I think we're just gonna make it."
Once her and Kevin were on the plane, and they had taken off, Kevin raised the armrest between them and stuck a pillow behind his head, leaning against the plane wall. He pulled Sarah into the space between his legs, and covered the 2 of them with a blanket. Before they knew it, the 2 were fast asleep.
Sarah stepped off the plane and made sure her sunglasses were on straight. Sure, she'd just gotten a couple of hours of sleep, but she'd had a lot of late nights lately, and quite honestly, she looked like shit. Kevin stumbled off the plane behind her, still half-awake. "How long does it take you to wake up anyway?" Sarah asked him, putting her arm around his muscular back.
"About 5 minutes." Kevin replied, leaning against her arm gently, to let her know he appreciated the gesture. "So I'm fully awake now. Welcome home, by the way."
"Welcome home yourself." Sarah giggled, running her free hand over his cheek. She sighed inwardly as Kevin kissed her lightly, and then broke away and started walking, still in her embrace.
Kevin walked outside, and dropped their baggage on the ground, looking for his 2 brothers who were supposed to pick him up. Then he and Sarah heard a low voice yell out to them. "Hey bro!" Kevin turned around and smiled, seeing his brother walk towards him.
"Jerald!" He smiled, giving his brother a hug and slapping him on the back. "This is Sarah." He said, a huge grin on his face as he introduced his love to his brother.
"Nice to meet you Sarah." Jerald smiled at her, giving her a light hug also. His smile was almost identical to Kevin's, which Sarah found kinda funny, kinda creepy. After talking with Jerald for a while she heard Kevin calling her to come and meet his other brother Tim, who ALSO looked like Kevin. After all the introductions were made, the whole group piled into Jerald's van, where his wife and daughter Madison were waiting. Sarah climbed in on one side of Madison, with Kevin sitting on the other side. Madison turned to Sarah and smiled a toothy grin at her.
"Kevin was right!" She giggled.
"Right about what Madison?" Sarah asked her, smiling down at the child.
"Well…Kevin said you were pretty…and you are!" Sarah glanced up at Kevin through her eyelashes. Kevin only shrugged his shoulders, and smiled back at her. As Sarah leaned back down to speak again to Madison, Jerald looked in the rearview mirror at Kevin. He was gazing at Sarah, and it was obvious nothing else was on his mind. Tim saw it too, and as the 2 brothers looked at each other, they both thought only one thing…"Damn…Kev's got it BAD."
