Sarah raised her head up onto one elbow and looked around the room for Kevin. She had been woken from her sleep only to find that Kevin was gone, and she was alone in the guest bedroom. She pushed back the light cotton sheets, and stretched her arms over her head. Noticing the window in the back of the room was open she walked to it, and gazed out over the horse pastures of the farm. As she looked down, she saw Kevin lying on his back on a blanket, gazing up at the night sky. Smiling to herself, she turned and walked out of the room, down the steps, and to the back door. She pulled the door open, and walked to the top of the steps, murmuring softly. "Kevin…" He turned his head to face Sarah, his eyes coming to rest on her ankles, and then traveled up…and up. His eyes grew a little wider, and then Sarah realized that she was only wearing a purple Victoria's Secret tank top and underwear set. "Whoa!" Sarah exclaimed, joking on herself. "Look at what I'm not wearing!" She blushed slightly, remembering their encounter that afternoon and she saw that Kevin was blushing also. "Oh see, now this is pathetic." Sarah laughed as she made her way down the stairs. She sighed deeply as she sat next to Kevin, and leaned against him. "What are you looking at?"

"The stars." Kevin whispered, leaning his head against hers. "You can't see them in the city. They're beautiful down here, I used to come out and watch them all the time when I was young." Kevin wrapped his arms around Sarah and began to point out constellations to her. Orion, the big and little dippers, and Medusa. After a while the pair just sat and stared at the sky until Kevin broke the silence. "I think we might have to leave tomorrow."

"Why?" Sarah asked, as she titled her head down to look at Kevin. "I thought we were going to stay all of tomorrow."

"I need to get back…there's something I need to do…I don't want to do it here for some reason." Kevin chuckled to himself. Sarah threw Kevin a look. She knew Kevin was hiding something from her, but she wasn't sure what. She turned around, and leaned back on her arms. Whatever Kevin was up to, she was going to trust him. After a while, Kevin turned to her and spoke again. "How about tomorrow you come horse back riding with me and my brothers? Then we can say goodbye to my mom…and go."

"Horseback riding? I haven't done that in years! I used to ride a lot though..." Sarah turned to look at the solitary horses grazing on the Kentucky bluegrass behind the white fences. "I'd love to come." She finished, smiling at Kevin.

"Alright then." Kevin replied, rising to his feet as he brushed grass off loose pajama pants. He turned to look back at Sarah, and took her hand. "Let's go back to bed." As Sarah followed Kevin back into the house, she turned to look out over the property, and the only thought in her mind was how much she loved this place…

Sarah turned her Morgan towards the jump and leaned far over it's ears. She spurred it into a canter and in 2 bounds was up and over the jump, and began a sitting canter into an open field, behind Kevin and his brothers. Tim had seen the whole thing, and pulled up his horse to wait for her.

"Damn!" Tim laughed. "You never told us you knew what you were doing!"

"Hey! I rode for 4 years!" Sarah smiled, slowing to a walk, and pulling into the small circle with Kevin and his brothers.

"Ok, here's what I thought we'd do." Jerald started "Basically, just a ride through the woods, but not too long, 'cause mom's coming over." He turned towards the woods, and then looked back at Sarah. "Try to keep up."

"Don't worry about me." Sarah replied, tossing her head and throwing him a smile. Kevin turned to look back at her, his eyes laughing.

"You have no idea what we can do Sarah."

"Well, whatever you can do…" Sarah teased, "I can do better." Kevin's brothers laughed at her challenge as they turned their horses and began the ride down the path.

"Sarah…" Kevin murmured leaning forward on his horse, "just remember age brings experience…such as a certain manner in the bedroom." Sarah laughed as she began to follow Kevin down the dusty trail, letting the reins play over her horse's back.

"Cocky bastard." She hissed at him, letting her eyes shoot sparks.

"You know you like it." Kevin replied over his shoulder as a slow grin spread over his face. Sarah laughed again as she rode into the woods, still laughing quietly.

Sarah stood in the shower letting the water run down her back, and smiling inwardly remembering her ride earlier. Kevin, Tim, and Jerald were the most competitive people she had ever met, and they kept going on about who was better at everything. Sarah had beat them at their own game though when it came to jumping logs, and she had laughed at the looks on their faces when they realized they couldn't clear a jump any higher than she could. Not only had they been beaten, they had been beaten by a girl.

As Sarah stepped out of the shower she felt a wave of anxiety wash over her. She admitted it, she was nervous about meeting Kevin's mother, especially after hearing so much about her. She wanted everything to be perfect…she wanted to show Mrs. Richardson…Ann…that she loved Kevin as much as any woman could, and that she would take care of him.

Kevin saw and felt all of this, and as they walked out the door he took the time to reassure her. "They will all love you Sarah." He smiled down at her, and crept his hands around her waist. "Don't worry about it."

Sarah sipped the last of her coffee as Kevin threw their bags into the trunk of the waiting cab. The pair then turned to say goodbye to everyone at the house before leaving for the airport so they could get back to New York. Sarah smiled softly as she leaned down the hug Kevin's mother, who had been nothing but sweetness to Sarah ever since they had met. Just before she pulled away though, Sarah felt her slip something soft and cool into her hand. Turning over her palm to look at them, she looked up at Mrs. Richardson for an explanation.

"They're called angel pendants." She explained "One for you…one for Kevin. As long as you wear them with love in your hearts, nothing can hurt you or come between you." Sarah smiled again with tears in the corners of her eyes.

"Thank you so much." She whispered as she fingered the 2 small angels on the chains. "I am very touched." Mrs. Richardson moved down the gravel walk with Sarah to the car, and just before she shut the cab door she leaned in and whispered, "I have been waiting for him to find a girl like you. Be his angel." And as the car pulled away, Mrs. Richardson smiled, knowing what would come next…
