IMPORTANT:
Before I start transcribing this song I must say this. If anyone has
got the Beck song 'Feather In Your Cap' off the SubUrbia Soundtrack
album in MP3 format PLEASE PLEASE let me know. I can't get the CD
and I've only heard a bit of this song but it's GREAT. If you have
the cd please make a mp3 file and let me know, I will be ETERNALLY
grateful. I have loads of mp3's myself that I can let you have
in exchange.

CHORDS:
-------
    EADGBE EADGBE EADGBE
C (x32010) F (133211) F# (244322)
G6 (320000) Fmaj7 (133210) Am (x02210)
A (x0222x) D7 (xx0212) G# (466544)
E (022100) G (320003)

This is one of the greatest songs on an album full of great songs!
About the chords, I use my index finger to play the A chord and
that's why the high E string is muted. I think it sounds more like
the song that way. But you can of course play it (x02220) like
usual. If you're wondering how to play the Fmaj7 chord I use my
thumb on the low E string. But if you don't like playing it that
way or if you've got small hands you can play it (x33210). But
to me it's easiest to use my thumb on both the F and Fmaj7 chords
because then it's really easy to switch between them.
There are really many chords in this song, and for me at least
it's hard to remember them all, so I put chords over all lyrics,
not just the first verse and first chorus.

INTRO:
------
C G6 A E F Fmaj7 C [play two times]

[You really must listen to the song to get the rhythm for the
intro, it's impossible to try to tab it. You've got the chords
so just listen to the song and it's easy]

VERSE 1:
--------
C G6 A E F Fmaj7 C
Lazy flies all hovering above
    C G6 A E F Fmaj7 C
The magistrate puts on his gloves
       D7 G F C
And he looks to the clouds, all pink and disheveled
      D7 C G F#
There must be some blueprint, some creed of the devil
F C
Inscribed in our minds

CHORUS:
-------
  Am D7 F Am
A hideous game, vanishes in thin air
    Am D7 F Am
The vanity of slaves, who wants to be there
   E F F C
To sweep the debris, to harness dead horses
   D7 G F C
To ride in the sun, a life of confessions
E F G#
Written in the dust

VERSE 2: [same as first verse]
--------
C G6 A E F Fmaj7 C
Out in the mangroves the mynah birds cry
       C G6 A E F Fmaj7 C
In the shadows of sulphur the trowlers drift by
        D7 G F C
They're chewing dried meat in a house of disrepute
D7 C G F#
The dust of opiates and syphilis patients
   F C
on brochure vacations

CHORUS: [same as first chorus]
-------
Am D7 F Am
Fear has a glare that traps you like searchlights
    Am D7 F Am
The puritans stare, their souls are fluorescent
    E F F C
The skin of a robot, vibrates with pleasure
D7 G F C
Matrons and gigolos, carouse in the parlor
      E F G#
Their hand-grenade eyes, invalid and blind

SOLO: [verse chords]
-----
I've declared many times that I don't usually transcribe solos, so
when I do, you must excuse any errors. I think it's pretty correct
though.

This last part is easiest played by making
