You're right, damon, The Beta Band are truly with it! You are reading the words
of a new convert. Finally, after much hemming and hawing, their CD, The Three E.P's,
is finally available here in the United States at all record stores (not just the indie
ones). Some mumblings to follow..."Dry the Rain"...groove is especially sweet with the
build-up in each of the choruses. It accomplishes the Stones "You Can't Always Get
What You Want" effect without all the hoopla. "I will be all right.."a mantra for all
of us ailing souls. "B + A"...music to boogie by, no? "Inner Meet Me"...Tibetan-chant-ish
beginning meets The Steve Miller Band's "Rockin' Me." Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs.
Robinson" groove...Come fly with me on this one, damon..."Monolith"...wanna cha-cha in
outer space? "Space is the place after all, innit?"
"She's The One"...sing this for me as you stare into my eyes, won't you? (Schlocky moment alert!!! Sorry, lost control for a sec). Something cathartic about "Push it Out" as it nears its crescendo-like end. Sweep out the dust of frustration that's accumulated in the corners of our soul and get rid of the cobwebs of life. "It's Over"..."Spooky little lizard girl..."Hhhmm...real graphic, love it (having lived on and written about Gecko Island myself...) "taking pictures of my soul...all the angles no one could know." Take a walk through Norwegian Wood...again..."Dr.Baker"...eerie and beautiful song with an exquisite a-capella chorus. Symbiotic relationships are the scariest of them all.
Ciao' baby!
