March 2006

Happy Birthday month, d! You are smack dab in the middle of a flurry of activities that it's enough to make our heads spin. *phew!* Hope you'll get to have a festive and joyful birthday this month amid all the activity.

Your reaction at the Grammy's when they showed you for a quick second or two was classic. Darn those cameras, yes? That was really ace how Dennis Hopper was able to join you and Jamie at the photo op. Congrats on the Gorillaz' win that night.

Okay, so you've got multiprojects galore and I thought I had it bad. You win, hands down. Monkey: Journey to the West? How would I have known, as a little girl, that the Monkey cartoon that I so loved watching on TV and whose hot chocolate I drank would be recreated by someone whom I had yet to come to know in a land I had yet to learn about? I have been experiencing a surreal feeling ever since it was announced. Another musical in the works for the National Theater about the "real" Notting Hill? Could all this get any better?

Yes, it does get better..."Demon Days" at the Apollo Theater in NYC? Priceless. That such a venue was chosen where the performers get booed off the stage for a less than stellar performance is such an apropos decision. Brilliant! Will be there for all five nights and can hardly wait. It will be a fascinating chance to observe the audience so as to see the similarities and differences between the denizens of New York and Manchester.

Many happy returns,
frances
