QUALITY: Quality is actually pretty good considering where it was taped. To even
have this gig taped is amazing to me. I still find it hard to believe that someone was
able to tape a show in a federal prison, and have it come out like this. Unfortunatly, the story
is that the person who taped this only released this much to keep the full show to himself. Too
bad, since it's such a unique show. Hopefully the full show will surface someday. Quality
like I said is really pretty good, the crowd cheering is minimal on the recording.

SOURCE: Unknown audience analog
TIME: 26 minutes

CORRECT SHOW: James does not say San Quentin at all in this recording. However, you can
tell they are using a small PA system, the crowd is very small, and I can't think of any
other show in 2003 that this would be from. James does say "we've got about 10 minutes
left, and we're going to fill that with music." I think it's probably the right show.

FLAWS: See above, cuts, incomplete...too bad. Someone has the full show...

BAND PERFORMANCE: Band performance is a bit rusty, also this is the first "gig" with Robert.
James' voice is a little out of shape. Also the performance seems a little rushed, which I guess
is understandable considering the tension in the environment. Certainly one of the most unique
gigs that Metallica has played. Even though the recording is cut like it is, it's still a gig
that should be had by all collectors.
