I received this newsletter on October 20th, but I'm just now able to post it here on the news page. It reads-"Regretfully, we must announce that Ween's upcoming tour of the Midwest has been cancelled. There is a problem within the band, that requires immediate intervention, for the health, welfare and safety of one of it's memebers. For this member, years of touring have taken their toll. This is very sad, of course...but if something is NOT done now...the consequences could be even more dire than the cancellation of these dates. We know that this will be very hard for everyone to accept...and it was an incredibly difficult decision for the band to come to, but it is necessary and important. Please forgive us. Know that this was not done lightly...that it is an ABSOLUTE necessity. Ween will come back stronger and they will reschedule these dates at their earliest possible opportunity. We thank you for your understanding...we understand your disappointment. We appreciate your support. All tickets will be refunded and we'll post that information as soon as possible. Greg Frey, manager for Ween." For more information on this matter, please visit ween.com or ween.net. If you see these videos or know of anyone who has watched videos of the Ween concerts in Girkwood, AK with multi-camera views, visual effects, and an excellent soundtrack, contact Darby at drbtv@hotmail.com Much hard work and energy went into the making of these videos, which may very well have been shared with you all if not for one inconsiderate individual. I implore you, return the videos to the rightful owners. (8/9/01) The release date of the newly remastered version of "GodWeenSatan:The Oneness" is set for Sept.11! The Ronnie Dobbs Story" soundtrack. "One small correction on this - they didn't collaborate with the Vandals (whoever they are). It's very, very important that no-one thinks Ween had anything to do with the movie's theme song. But they did take the Vandal's tracks and add some stuff (I guess the movie people weren't happy with how it sounded - rightfully so!)" (5/19/01)From MTV.com News, Ween has signed on to appear as a polka band in an upcoming movie directed by "Sopranos" actor Joe Pantoliano. They plan to perform "Who Stole The Kishka" in the movie. They're also collaborating with the Vandals on an original song for the movie "Run, Ronnie, Run! The Ronnie Dobbs Story." Ween also just finished covering The Atlanta Rythym Section's "Champagne Jam" for the film, which is based on the Ronnie Dobbs character from HBO's "Mr.Show." Also from that article, was listed the three bonus songs on the forthcoming re-release of "GodWeenSatan: The Oneness", and they're "Hippy Smell","Stacey" and "Bumblebee pt.2" (5/13/01)From Mig's site-Restless Records will be releasing a remastered version of Ween's first record "GodWeenSatan: The Oneness" before the end of the year. The new edition will include 3 never before released bonus tracks that were left off of the record. These 3 songs have never been available as MP3's or available anywhere else! It will also include all sorts of liner notes. Deaner says,"You will difinitely notice the differance in the sound quality as the previously available pressing always sounded like shit compared to the original stereo mix." Ween is also investigating the possiblity of releasing their entire back catalog of LPs on vinyl! I will post more information on this as it develops. Those of you who live in Ween's area, can expect some special "surprise" shows between June and July. Deaner mentions that "Summertime has always been the time for Jimmy Wilson, and things are shaping up for an extensive tour of the tri-state area. Or at least one or two gigs." (4/21/01)Deaner announced at his site that Ween decided to cancel the two-week tour of the Midwest to work on new material instead. While they'll probably be doing a few random shows, there'll be none in the Midwest as planned originally. They're going to take a break from touring until the middle of August, then they'll be doing a few shows in Alaska, then 2 weeks on the West coast immediately thereafter. On the Glenn Mclelland situation, Deaner had this to say at his site-"Glenn Mclelland will no longer be touring with Ween, and no, there is no bad blood between us. While we'll probably continue to work together in specific situations (like recording for example) we are in fact looking for a keyboard player to join our touring band." (4/11/01)From Deaner's Bob Orr site-Ween is looking at more tourdates in June of the midwest and then a run through the West coast in August. But for now, they're in the studio working on the new Ween record. They've found a beautiful house on the river where they're doing the bulk of their writing and recording. They're taking their time talking to new labels and gathering material until they find the perfect situation for themselves. In other news, Ween is in the process of recording the second Z-Rock Hawaii record (a collaboration between Ween and Eye Yamatsuka and Yoshimi of the Boredoms from Japan) This is to be released later this year through Ipecac Records (Mike Patton's label) (4/7/01) The two week mini-tour is over, but word around the Ween newsgroup (Alt.Music.Ween) is that Ween might do another two week mini-tour in June and then maybe another in August which may even include Alaska! I'll post any information here at Burrosville as I get in. From the Chocodog Ween Merchandise Site: Catch Ween on the Tech Tv program "Audio Files" Monday, April 9th (check local listings for times) also, on April 11th, the House of Blues website, will re-broadcast the July 10th, 2000 New Orleans show for 24 hours, so be sure to check that out as well. (3/26/01) Glenn Mclelland is no longer with Ween! He was not at the warm-up gig Ween played in Ottsville, PA at the Tohickon Tavern March 21 and Ween announced that he was no longer with them. This was brought up at the Ween newsgroup(Alt.Music.Ween)and some people thought Ween was just messing with fans at the show and giving Glenn a hard time for not being there, but Papa Gener himself had this to say on the matter and it ended all of the speculation: "Glenn quit for real. He shan't play with us again."-Gener I don't have any details for now, but amidst all of the shudden shock of Glenn being gone, it was said at the newsgroup(Alt.Music.Ween) that Glenn didn't like touring and that he wanted more money. I will post any information I get here at Burrosville. (3/18/01) If you want to tape or even take photographs at any of the mini-tour shows, you can! So bring along those videocameras and tape recorders! I read this at the Ween newsgroup (Alt.Music.Ween) and thought I would pass it to those it might interest. "Ween has a policy that allows photos, taping and videotaping. It's written in the tour rider, so if they give you a hard time, tell them (politely) that the band's management told you it's OK and they should check the tour rider"-Pat Frey Back Home |
