Date: 05-29-91 Venue: "The Jabberjaw" Los Angeles, CA Source: ANA(?) > CDR(?) Time: 63 mins Sound Sample: Lithium Setlist: Blew Been A Son Stain On A Plain Smells Like Teen Spirit Love Buzz Lithium Floyd The Barber About A Girl Breed School Friends (jam) Dive Polly Come As You Are Sliver Territorial Pissings My Rating: B+ I remastered this audio tape and put it to CDR. The sound is pretty decent, but Kurt's vocals are a little low throughout. Besides the already high recording volume, there are huge jumps in the last half of the end of On A Plain and for half a second in Smells Like Teen Spirit. Other than that, this is a terrific show that shows absolutely no signs of generation wear. The band is very on and very energetic, ripping through the set with blatant enthusiasm. Krist is very talkative, and takes time to discuss Alternative Music when Kurt breaks a string after About A Girl. He asks the crowd for marijuana; he seems to succeed in obtaining some, and proceeds to smoke on stage. You gotta hear this! Kurt seems to have a great time, jamming on Sly and the Family Stone's "Friends". His guitar goes out at the beginning of School and the whole crowd moans "awww"-- it's really funny. Early versions of On A Plain, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and Come As You Are are played. Sadly, the vocals are a little low and it's hard to make out what Kurt is saying. On A Plain has a slightly alternate structure. Territorial Pissings sounds really really awesome and doesn't have the "Smile On Your Brother" intro (which was created in the studio recording of Nevermind on a whim). This is now one of my favorite shows... it totally rips shit up... GET IT!!! Recommended VERY highly!!! |
