Kurt introduces the band as Steeley Dan. This is not recorded very well, as the mic overfeeds quite a bit. However, there's no better copy in existence... seeing as how this is straight off of the master! Beside the below-par recording, this show is absolutely amazing. Paper Cuts is the highlight of this show. I don't know why they didn't put it into more setlists. Oh well, I guess it is a little slower than the rest of this set. After Big Cheese, it almost sounds like Kurt says "Anyone got a buck? Thank you." That's wierd. Before Token Eastern Song, Krist jams on The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues". Some woman in the crow yells "NO COVERS!!!", so Krist stops. Just before Even In His Youth, Krist plays a small riff on the bass that was later jammed on for about a minute during the 11/13/89 show. Unreleased song??? Before the Stain, some guy in the audience continuously shouts "We Are The World!" (this song was done by about 20 stars in a choir singing for charity). There is a but before Blew (cuts in), and another before Paper Cuts (starts abruptly). This is a great early show. The quality is not very good, but this is the best you'll find. This show is recommended for everyone, however, because of the rare/ beautiful performance of Paper Cuts. |
