Dave Matthews clashed with a bunch of grapes while horsing around in his hotel room the day before his band's sold-out shows took place in Foxboro, Massachusetts over Memorial Day weekend. The grapes won, and now the frontman is nursing two broken ribs.

Matthews recounted the details of his bizarre accident at a New York party for guitarist Carlos Santana on Tuesday night.

"A friend of mine was throwing grapes for me to catch in my mouth, and they threw one a little long.  So I tripped over something behind me and landed on the arm of a chair. So I broke a couple ribs. But I'm okay. I mean, I'm fine. I didn't know they were broken until this morning, so I had that going for me."

To add insult to injury, Matthews' publicist said that the singer tripped over his own guitar case.
