Sorry this review is so late...But I'm still in shock that I even went!
I went to the Las Vegas concert on the 17th at the MGM Grand. I'll try to relate my experience the best I can!
This was my first concert ever (I'm 16), and I'm so glad I picked it to be a BSB concert. I knew I was going to have a great time, since I had so much fun just watching the PPV concert at my house last year. I took our foreign exchange student, Fernanda, with me to the concert. Our love for Backstreet is one thing that unites us. That's one great thing about BSB...They can unite anyone from anywhere. So anyway, we got a hotel room in Vegas at the Palace Station, since the rooms at the MGM were SO expensive, and I had to pay for the room through my meager minium wage salary.
I got a tip from someone that the Boys would probably begin soundchecking at around 4, so we arrived at the MGM around that time, after a healthy dose of mall shopping so I could buy something new to wear to the concert. My eyes grew wider and wider the closer we got to the MGM and they were the size of saucers by the time we parked in the parking garage. I walked in total awe, trying to take in everything. Every five mins while we were walking through the hotel and the casino, I kept elbowing Fernanda and asking her if she saw anyone and then telling her to keep her eyes open. I really wanted to see the Boys, but I would have been overjoyed to see a band member or a dancer.
We went straight to the will call window when we got over to the Grand Garden Arena. My aunt went up with my mom to get my tickets, while Fernanda and I watched a scalper make a sale with a woman. The little girl who was getting the tickets looked like she was going to pass out. She looked up at me and whispered, "8th row". At that time, I didn't know how good my seats were, so I tried to be happy for her, but secretly I was really upset.
My aunt talked to the lady at the counter to see if she had any better seats still available so we could get a ticket upgrade if there were some. There wasn't and the lady assured us that we had REALLY good seats, so we got the tickets and then started to walk around some more. Nothing terribly exciting happened after that, but we found out that we narrowly missed seeing AJ at McDonalds. Some lady was talking about it casually in the bathroom and my jaw almost dropped. I walked out of the bathroom stomping my feet and yelling "damnit" at the top of my lungs.
When they allowed us to enter the arena, Fer and I walked up to one of the ushers and she pointed us to our section. We were at the top of it, and she told us to go to the very bottom and talk to the lady down there. So we went down to the floor, and the second usher took our tickets, looked at them, and pointed to her left. We were two tiny steps up off the floor!! When we realized how close we were, we hugged each other and screamed.
About a half hour before Mandy Moore came on, I saw Tommy walking around the stage pit with a blonde girl that looked kinda like Leighanne, but I'm not sure if it was really her or not. I sent Fernanda up to him to try to get his autograph since I'm WAY too shy, but by the time he got to her, he said he had to go. I was totally bummed.
Both Mandy and EYC performed as opening acts. I was not very impressed with either of them. Mandy didn't dance, just walked around shaking her hips like Ricky Martin and rubbing herself more than I cared to see. (Not that I cared to see it at all.) Her dancers weren't all that cute and frankly, they weren't that talented. When it came to Mandy, the words "skank" and "whore" came to my mind quite often. Don't get me wrong, I'm not jealous, cuz I can sing better than her, although I do wish I had her body...And by the way, there's no way in hell that girl is 15. EYC tried, but they got old real fast. They had a little bit of trouble with the spotlight when they were introducing themselves. It was pretty hilarious. Personally, I was more interested in watching the BSB band members walking around the pit, last minute checking everything.
Ok, you all know what happens during the concert, but I'll try to tell you some of the funny things that happened during this one.
~The blonde dancer, Amy, got hit in the butt with a stuffed animal! lol That was so funny. I felt bad for her, though
~When AJ was wearing the straight jacket, someone threw him a "Hot Dog on a Stick" hat and he and Brian were trading it back and forth. Then Brian and Nick stole AJ's rhinestone cowboy hat and were playing with it on my side of the stage.
~Nick put a towel on his head while he was introducing his band member and dancer and was head banging. it was SOOO adorable...Maybe cuz Nick is my fave??
~Some weirdo guy came running on stage with a cheeseburger for AJ. AJ got it, stuck it in his mouth and then took it out again. (this was during their speeches)...AJ handed the burger to Howie (I think) and then Howie handed it to Brian. When Brian got ahold of it, he tossed it back toward the band.
~Brian joined Howie and Nick on the center risen stage thingy during the MC D thing. Bri had his hood on too and was mimicking Howie. It was really sweet.
~Someone snuck in a sign and hung it across the second level banister...It said "Get Naked BSB"
~Howie pointed at me during Spanish Eyes. Yes, he pointed AT ME...lol Well, I'm pretty sure he did anyways. At one point during the song, I stuck both my index fingers straight out, pointing at him, and he did the same EXACT thing back to me. It was pretty damn cool.
~Brian had the CUTEST little girl with him on stage for "The Perfect Fan". I think they all should have little ones up there with them, because it's SO much cuter. My best friend, who was sitting on a corner opposite from me, said that the little girl just sat there until Bri picked up her hand and made her wave. From then on, the little girl didn't stop waving!!
~Is it just me, or does AJ need some catching lessons?? He didn't catch a SINGLE stuffed animal. He's the one who flew over me. He's so hot, and I love him, but I pity those who have him flying over them, cuz they won't get thrown any stuffed animals!! My friend's little sister caught a stuffed elephant from Nick...Grrrrrr. I'm offering her a couple bil for it, but she won't take it! lol
~During "INBYH", Fernanda and I were singing along with the guys. She sang in Spanish, I sang in English. It's one of my favorite memories from the concert.
*CONCERT TIP* Bring cotton. AND USE IT. You can hear everything perfectly during the concert, and you'll still have your hearing the next morning. It doesn't interfere with the music at all, but it takes the sting out of the screaming, which allows you to scream all the louder!
After the concert, every single part of me hurt like crazy, but it was the best time of my life. I'll never ever forget it and I can't wait for their next tour. I only wish that I could go to another concert on this tour. But, I don't have another $600 to spend (that's how much the entire two days cost me, it would have been more had my mom not paid for our food) Bring lots and lots of money with you for concert stuff, cuz you'll want to buy everything you see, trust me. I ended up buying a concert shirt, a glow stick, a key chain, a dog tag, and a program.
My only disappointment of the night was not getting to "meet" any of the Boys. I really did want to get to talk to them, especially Nick. He and I have SO much in common, we would have so much fun together. I was there for so long and there were so many sightings. I can't believe I didn't even get a glimpse of them outside of the concert!
Ohh, yeah...Almost forgot. While we were walking around after the concert trying to find the parking garage so we could go back to our hotel, we walked past a Haagen-Daz ice cream shop and I SWEAR I saw Amy (blonde dancer) in line for ice cream. She had the same length blonde braids and was wearing sweats. And let me tell you, you DON'T walk around the MGM in sweats, unless you just got thru dancing in a concert.
E-mail me if you went the same night as I did, cuz I couldn't see the other side of the stage, so I missed a lot of what Brian and Nick did, cuz I saw Kev, Howie, and AJ most of the night. Or just e-mail me if ya wanna talk about BSB!
Peace out y'all!!
