Chapter 14

Jessi calmly walked off the stage and smiled and thanked people that congratulated her as she walked up the aisle. She threw her arms around her best friend.

"How did you get here?" Jessi cried.

"I got a phone call last night," Christina said as she glanced at Isaac and Taylor.

Jessi walked to Taylor, threw her arms around him and said, "Oh, thank you, Taylor! I'll love you forever!"

"What about me?" Isaac asked and pretended to be hurt. Jessi gave him a big hug too.

Then she spun around and said to Christina, "When do you have to leave?"

"Monday morning."

"That only gives us two days!" Jessi exclaimed. "We should catch a movie, go rollerblading through the park, go swimming, bunches of stuff," she said excitedly.

"Calm down, Jessi!" Christina said and laughed. "We will have to run in the mornings like we did when we were in New York."

"Yeah, I haven't been dong that like I should."

"I'm sure Taylor will run with you," Christina said.

"He better," Jessi said as she poked Taylor. "Hey, why don't you and Isaac run with us in the morning?" Jessi asked Taylor.

"Sure," Isaac and Taylor said together.

"I'm so glad you came here on a Friday," Jessi exclaimed.

Jessi and Christina trudged into Jessi's room later that night. "I am beat," Jessi said as she flopped onto her bed.

"Me too," Christina agreed, "but I did have alot of fun at the arcade and the movie was great."

"Yeah, I had fun too," Jessi said as she smiled. "I was thinking that we could go to the fair tomorrow."

"That would be great!" Christina said, then nonchalantly added, "why don't you invite Isaac, Taylor, and Zac?"

"I was just fixing to call them," Jessi said as the walked towards the phone. Just as she was going to pick up the phone, it rang. "Hello."

"Hey, Jessi, it's Judy."

"Hey, Judy. What's up?"

"Something good for you."

"What?" Jessi asked.

"You made it! You're in our group!" Judy exclaimed.

"Wow! That's great!" Jessi exclaimed.

"Yep. We have our first practice Monday after school."

"Great, I'll be there, Judy."

"Good. Well, I'm fixing to call the other two girls. Congratulations, Jessi."

"Thanks, Judy," Jessi said.

"Bye."

"Bye." Just as Jessi replaced the receivor, the phone rang again. "Hello."

"Hi, Jessi, it's Taylor."

"Hi, Taylor," Jessi said and sat down. Christina rolled her eyes.

"I have some bad news," Taylor said sadly.

"What is it?" Jessi asked.

"We've just been asked to fly to New York and perform."

"That is great," Jessi said with fake happiness.

"No, it's not," Taylor said, "because I'll be away from you for a week."

"A week!" Jessi wailed.

"Yeah, I know," Taylor said sadly.

"Taylor, I'm being selfish," Jessi said. "You need to focus on your career."

"I know, but I hate being away from you."

"I hate it too. When are you leaving?"

"In the morning."

"Oh," Jessi whispered.

"I'll call you tomorrow night, I promise."

"OK, Taylor."

"I need to be going," Taylor sighed.

"OK, I'll talk to you tomorrow then."

"Jessi?"

"Yes?"

"I love you," Taylor said shyly.

"I love you, too, Taylor," Jessi said softly.

"Bye."

"Bye." Jessi replaced the receivor. This was the first time they had said I Love You. Jessi sighed sadly. Oh, how she would miss him.

Christina gaver her friend a hug and said, "It's time for us girls to stick together. You'll make it through."
