RUSH'S LATE MODERN PERIOD RECORDINGS

VAPOR TRAILS

Rush's newest offering takes some getting used to. The synthesizers and keyboards are not present. The famous surrealistic artwork of Hugh Syme is gone also. Instead we have a bare bones trio, consisting of bass, vocals, guitar, mandola, drums and cymbals. When I first listened to this recording, it did not invigorate me like ROLL THE BONES had. Instead, I was left to ponder for about a week whether I liked this recording or not. Finally, I played the album through in it's entirety on my stereo system. I can say honestly that I have started to enjoy it more. With the exception of the lead-off single "One Little Victory," I enjoy much of the rest of this recording. I am especially enamored of "Vapor Trails." That being said, I hope that the new recording will include more symphonic accompaniment.
