May
17th at the Foxfire house with The Makeout club, Lucas, Samsarasevin, and
Malefaction- First I caught the make-out club who I thought were great!
A couple of the Make Out club members wanted me to make a webpage for them.
So look out for that as well as a Late Night Union webpage. I also
saw Samsarasevin who I thought were good off and on.
At
the beginning of the show, I was like this is such hell, but by the end
I was pumped. And that's
all
I've got to say.
May
1st All Rights Reserved one time only reunion.
Previous
to the show (this used to be on the upcoming shows list)- Who would want
to see a show with a band that has been broken up for four years, You ASK?
I would. (Yes I erased my ranting and raving)
The show- Alex P. Keatons- pretty much straight out youth crew hardcore and it's done well- but I have to admit that I am so not into this kinda stuff any more. Not to insult the band or anything, but it's just not my cup of tea. Their styles of music are a lot more preferable to a lot of other bands I've heard lately, so..... I think I missed Belvedere or I went into a state of non- awareness maybe, idonno. However, I saw that Dan wasn't drumming for them anymore and I started to wonder what the hell happened to that kid?! Who was next? By A Thread.... it was some pretty basic hardcore/rock singy music with an amazing rhythm section. I enjoyed it. All Rights reserved was pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen (Not the band itself but the reaction in the crowd). I put aside my hatred for moshing and fucking shit up and laughed so hard. Ahh, it brought me back to the old days of the scene. Slugger- I only caught a couple of songs of these guys unfortunately but it was really tight and yummy as usual.
May 2- the foxfire By A Thread show ...... I don't need to talk much about the bands. This show itself was good, but the reactions..........Oh my. I am just going to tell you that I severely dislike the direction in which the punk scene is turning. I'd like to start putting on shows that officially seperate themselves from the notion of "punk". (I'm trying to be very offensive, because many people have been so reactionary about any and all of my opinions, trying to corner me for the most tiny and subtle differences.) e-mail me, PLEASE if you have something to say about this.
The Weakerthans at the Multicultural center with the Browns, and New 1-2 (all ages)- the Browns were amazing. Amazingly funny to say the least. The mixing of their set was terrible. I couldn't hear the keyboards at all and Todd's guitar was louder than the vocals and drums put together. But somehow they still managed to be awesome as hell. The Weakerthans played an awesome set. Really tight and catchy and altogether a great show. People are going to regret missing this one when they get really big! Too bad I missed New 1-2.
The Weakerthans at the NightGallery-
Awhwhahhhh fuck. How the fuck did I get dragged into this? It was awful.
8$ , the same show minus the Browns, smokey, crowded, nowhere to sit. The
Weakerthans were great but this show fucking sucked my ass. I didn't bother
to find out who the other bands were.
