This interview was conducted in October of '93, right before the release of Ultra's Four Horsemen album.

Anything you don't want to talk about?

Ced Gee:
No, we can talk about everything. We can get inside Keith's, TR's, and Moe Love's dirty habits. TR is the world's first transsexual rapper. He used to be a woman. But you didn't know that, right?

Okay, but seriously, what happened with Mercury (records), and how did you hook up with Wild Pitch (records)?

Ced:
Well, Mercury was too rule oriented, so we came back to the streets where you can do anything you want. Indies are closer to the street, and they understand that an artist needs breathing space to create. You'll hear it on the album. There are no rules.
TR Love: This album is speaking to a lot of people. We're talking to people directly, letting them know how we feel, and we're just doing our own thing. There's no laws on this album. The only law is to be ill as you can and stay consistent to hardcore. Everybody's saying to us that with this album we are actually topping Critical Beatdown, so that's a plus in itself.
Kool Keith: The album is more of that East Coast feel with that funk flow to it. It seems to me that people in the South and Southwest want to hear Paperboy or somebody who uses that Zapp shit or a beat with "Atomic Dog" in it. I want to use it, but in to my advantage. "Two Brothers With Checks" is kinda an example.

What's up with that title?

Ced:
It just means that we're cashing checks all over the place.

What's up with the concept behind the title of the album Four Horsemen?

Keith:
It's like we're on some ol' Western, scientific type of shit.
TR: It's supposed to mean four men with abnormal penises. You know, as far as the women go and the horsemen image as a womanizer. You know, you get them, take care of them, destroy them, and then you get them out. Also, the horsemen image can be attuned to many different styles. It's like four hardcore brothers from the East that got to the West, o Western brothers becoming modernized, or like Billy the Kid meets fucking Star Trek.
DJ Moe Love: To me it's really just four ill brothers.

Yo Keith, how many MCs you think are going to try to bite that style of you used on "One-Two, One-Two"?

Keith:
Well, you're gonna see a few niggas trying to do it, and you know they gonna get the credit for it.
