About These Five Cuties

Backstreet Boys!! Just the sound of this name has been making many teenage girls heart go a pumpin'. Who exactly are these five HOT guys? Well we are about to find out!

Way back in the early 90s, AJ. McLean, Howie Dorough and Nick Carter were all striving for a career in the entertainment industry. Despite their young ages (they were all in high school at the time) each had had a fair amount of success as a singer, actor or both. AJ. had studied dance-everything from jazz to ballet-for years, and was an accomplished puppeteer who'd worked on a cable TV series. Howie first hit the theater stage as a grammer schoolage kid and had even appeared in the films Parenthood and Cop And A Half. Nick meanwhile, was a featured vocalist for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers halftime show during the 1991 and 1992 seasons and had won the 1992 New Orignal Amateur Hour for his singing skills. He also played a tiny part as an extra in the film Edward Sisscorhands.

Eventually AJ. and Howie met up with each other in Orlando during a talent competition. Howies old vocal coach who was know AJ's coach introduced the two. These two kept meeting up with each other at auditions and to pass the time waiting for their appointments they would sing a cappella. One time, Nick, who was also auditioning for the same project, heard them and joined in.

Pretty soon it became apparent to the trio that their sound was pretty exciting. They decided to form a group and seek out someone who could help them. That person was Louis Pearlman, a successful Flordia businessman with a great love of music. So the three boys went in to audition for him, he suggested to Howie, AJ. and Nick that they extend the group to five members.

Meanwhile, Kevin Richardson, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, had moved to Orlando to pursue a dream of his own. Working days at Disney MGM Studios, playing Aladdin for the tourists, Kevin spent his nights frequenting hotmusic spots. Armed with his keyboards, he dreamed of becoming a singer/songwriter. Kevin sonn heard about the soon to-be Backstreet Boys search for two more members through the Orlando grapevine and he auditioned. Kevin then phoned his cousin Brian Littrell and asked him to become the fifth and last member. Needless to say Brian, who'd been singing in church his entire life, was pefect. Naming the group after a popular market in Orlando-The Backstreet Market-Backstreet Boys were born!

And there we have it....the Backstreet Boys story of coming together, and because of this story they are now big stars all over the world!!:)
