My Loooooong ass Concert list: (& just getting longer)
I've been updating this since '97 just so I can keep track!! more recent ones at the end. I'm a live show junkie, as you can see *grin*
Starting with the 1st one in March '95 (mostly in Houston & Dallas):
Offspring/No Use for a Name @ the International Ballroom--did NOT know what a moshpit was, but I found out realllly fast :P (damn moshers)
Bush--right after Offspring at this tiny tiny place
Buzzfest '95 with Bush, Matthew Sweet, Our Lady Peace, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, the Nixons, & others I can't remember right now
then at this club #'s in July alone, I saw Sponge/Letters to Cleo/Ned's Atomic Dustbin (again); Better than Ezra; Tripping Daisy
at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in August, I saw Live, & later Cranberries; then I ran out of ticket money :P I WAS working that summer btw, so I could afford it
1996
Atticus Finch--a cool, local Houston band I saw several times that year
November: Soundgarden--that ruled!! nevermind I hadn't eaten all day & had to be dragged out of the verrrry front of the pit area cuz I was about to pass out....
Smashing Pumpkins/Garbage @ then called Summit/now called Compaq Center--for Garbage, of course...the Pumpkins I heard suck live, & they did...they just kinda rushed through everything
heh, that year, I figured I should chill on the tickets...& there weren't many shows to see anyway
1997
May: Jane Jensen
June: Lemonheads
Collective Soul--nice calm, older crowd :) not to mention CS sounded good live
part of Rockfest '97 @ TX Motorspeedway in Fort Worth, which SUCKED...only saw the end of Collective Soul cuz of all the damn 4-hour traffic, & only band I saw in its entirety was Counting Crows, which are good live
in August: Buzzfest '97 @ CWM Pavilion again with Matchbox 20/Silverchair/Buck 0' Nine/Cowboy Mouth/Seven Mary 3/Abra Moore; it was alright; Buzzfest '95 was much better; my favorite performance was probably Cowboy Mouth
August: Counting Crows/Wallflowers @ CWM Pavilion--wanted to see the Wallflowers, since I missed em at Rockfest; & CC was good enuff to see again
September: Blur/Smashmouth @ #'s--for Blur of course; Smashmouth was surprisingly good live
October: Toadies & Atticus Finch at the Buzz monster mosh Halloween night
& last but certainly not least, Juliana Hatfield in December
1998
April: Buzzfest '98 @ CWM Pavilion with Foo Fighters, Our Lady Peace, Creed, Black Lab, the Hunger, Big Wreck & more; Creed was my favorite, & The Hunger was the 1st band that brought the crowd to its feet
September: Bauhaus @ the Aerial Theater--got in free, & was in for a real surprise :) no, not the freak show (ya know, the goth attire), but just Bauhaus in general cuz I had never really heard them before
October: Garbage @ the Aerial Theater (Shirley rules!!) - had to make up for their waaay too brief time in '96
November: Depeche Mode @ the Compaq center--ask me the story sometime about how we got tickets!! it was hilarious; the show itself was awesome, & the crowd was made up of mostly people my age & older, & no kiddies to ruin it :)
1999
March: the Hunger again over spring break
Love & Rockets with Orgy @ #'s same month
May: Buckcherry - saw free at a Blues bar, & they rocked!!
June: Orgy @ Aerial Theater--but damn moshing kiddos ruined it!! ask me about the herd of moving cattle; or maybe you already know what I mean
August: The Cult @ Aerial Theater in Houston & then I moved to Denton & saw Reverend Horton Heat, & then later Gene Loves Jezebel in Dallas @ Club Clearview
September: Deep Blue Something in Denton; ya, everyone knows that damn radio song "Breakfast at Tiffany's", but I was really surprised how their other songs sounded NOTHING like that!! figures...what they played were verrrrry 80's influenced...kinda new wave/goth sounding, & they even did covers of the Smiths "Shoplifters of the World unite" & The Beatles "Dear Prudence"
November: Buckcherry (again) @ Deep Ellum Live in Dallas
December: Rage Against the Machine....awwww yah!! it rocked, of course, & I actually had decent seats in the Compaq Center in Houston (where the Rockets play); had to go home cuz they didn't go to Dallas
& I just gotta say...any of you folks who caught Woodstock last year, I'm sorry :) I just cannot stand big concerts with THAT many people in 1 area who don't have any consideration of falling/squishing other people....if you had a good time, good for you...but I would've hated every second of it, after being at Rockfest...not like it was even remotely close to me anyway, but I just had to say that
whoa, I saw a lotta shows last year!! just noticed
2000
February 8: Powerman 5000/Static X @ Deep Ellum Live; loud, loud, & um, loud, yah!! both bands put on a really cool show; it's cool goin to see bands sometimes where you hardly know any of their songs besides what radio plays
February 21: The Cure @ Deep Ellum Live; you know the story (or maybe not), tickets sold out in Dallas in less than a minute, so I decided to go there anyway & hopefully at least see them coming in & out of the building, but I lucked out & snuck in the show when other people were trying to get in thru a side door. I was 1 of only 2 people who made it in past the bouncers :) awesome show, of course; they only played a few old favorites cuz they were mostly promoting their new album...hence the name promo tour
March 5: Chris Cornell @ Deep Ellum Live; yummy, Chris in person again :) awesome vocalist still, & he delighted us by playing a couple of Soundgarden songs, "Fell on Black Days", & "Just Like Suicide", AND a couple of Temple of the Dog songs :)
March 30: Peter Murphy @ (you guessed it) Deep Ellum Live; yummy, like I said about Chris, just an awesome vocalist, & even more impressive than I thought, even though the Bauhaus show was awesome as well...he can croon me to sleep any day :) he played most of the 'Deep' album, a song I hadn't heard in a long time "The Scarlet Thing in You", & of course, he waited til the very end to play "Cuts You Up", which was the highlight of the evening; another show I lucked out & got in free cuz I won tickets off the radio
