Ultimate 100+ Favorite Dance Song List

This is a list of the obvious....mostly songs you'd hear at 80's new-wave/goth/industrial clubs that I love dancing to, & a few throw-ins that I like to crank loud to myself. If you have any suggestions (but NOT any hip hop/techno crap), lemme know, cuz I'm sure there's a ton of others I haven't heard. I kinda ranked these like the rock list, which was hard to do, cuz I luv em all!! The 1st 3 though, were 3 of my favorites at the time I created this (in 2000) if I had to pick 3 of my favorite dance songs on that VH1 show "The List" (yah, I know, that show was pointless). I think VH1 stole my idea, heh, cuz I started this before they aired the 100 Greatest Dance Song List that year, which was very biased towards 70's disco/dance. But, as you can tell, I'm biased towards the more underground 80's dance scene, & there's a mix of 90's songs in here too. The first 4 have kinda dark, depressing themes & moods, while the majority I think have um, well, sexually suggestive themes... but they're my faves. I was deep in thought thinking about all these songs & their effects on me as to WHY they're my favorite dance songs...so read up on the comments/suggestions/fantasies, whatever I wrote next to it. The ones with "high school favorites" (which was the early 90's, if you must know) are significant cuz I heard those first, although most of them came out MUCH earlier, & most the others I only heard over the past 6 years...& yes, I've been to clubs enuff times during that period. I have many on cd, but most of them on mp3 that I got on Napster, which is defunct, as you know... but you get them on many other file sharing programs I have listed on the main page. And 1 final note...I think I was stuck in the wrong decade, heh. By the way, if you're just DYYYING to have 1 of these on mp3 & you don't have any file sharing programs or can't use them or whatever, just email me: raquelle649@yahoo.com or try catching me on AIM as newwavechiq.

Alrighty then, on with the list!!

And the songs that make me dance & drool the most arrrrrre....

1. Blue Monday (original) -- New Order ever since I heard this in the summer of '92, I luved it; DJ just said it was by New Order, & I had never heard it before; & it's such a classic; yah, it gets overplayed, but I still luv it
2. Everyday is Halloween -- Ministry another high school favorite; mysterious, catchy beats, & most effective around Halloween :)
3. Lucifer's Friend -- U.K. Vision this is 1 of the more obscure ones on this list...basically cuz I know nothing about the band, can't find anything about them, & can't find any cds either...there is a video though, cuz I've seen it many times at the club; so, in those pre- Napster days, I just HAD to buy a mix cd that the club was selling; if I haven't gotten to the dance floor just yet, & this one comes on, I'm on the dance floor in a second; it just has that effect on me... as in (picture this) *high pitched squeal*, then tells friends, "OHHH, I GOTTA DANCE!!" (laffs at self); not to mention...that keyboard line is soooo addicting; & the lyrics fit us night owls just great "I only go out in the evening....never seeing the sun" :-)
4. Pity for the Self -- Poeise Noire same story as #4, really; heard it in high school, & realized for some reason, it cheers me up (?), although the lyrics are about self pity; maybe it's an energy release for me, who knows
5. Cuts You Up -- Peter Murphy need you ask? it's a great song...& no matter how many times I've heard it, I still always feel obligated to dance to it cuz it just "takes you in"
6. Take Me High -- Colm III when that bass line comes in, ahhhhh.....simple perfect beat & lyrics, esp. w/ a certain someone yer dancing with ;)
7. So Alive -- Love & Rockets well, as long as yer dancing with the right person, you'll feel like these lyrics suggest :)
8. Iggy Pop -- Lust for Life ohhh my gosh, I heard this today, & I had almost forgotten about it!! You can NOT sit still to this...i'm either movin round my room, or tapping my foot (hard) while i'm driving, heh...& it's 1 of those songs, even if i'm dead tired at a club, this one'll wake me right up...so fair enuff
9. Kiss Me (dance remix for sure) -- Steven Tin Tin Duffy a favorite from junior high; & mmm, aren't these lyrics suggestive at a club...or just period
10. Bizarre Love Triangle -- New Order I liked this 1 before Blue Monday, & it was my favorite song in '91 (I know, it came out way b4)
11. #1 Crush -- Garbage 80's & 90's dance music lovers unite...this is just 1 of those types that everyone loves, for obvious lyrical reasons
12. The Smiths -- How Soon is Now? probably 1 of the slowest songs on this list, but one of those classic songs that they'll play at just about any kind of club; esp. when you realize you've walked into the wrong one
13. Heart of Glass -- Blondie heh, same as the 1 before it; in other words, I'll dance to that 1 song & then leave

28. Crucify Me -- Moev this was one of those mystery songs I had heard just enuff times to know I liked it, but didn't know name/title; then I heard it this summer again, & made a guess at the title "crucify me" on Napster, & you can figure the rest :) verrrrrry catchy beat, if you've never heard it
