Robbie will be accompanied by the famous Blockheads at the tribute show which also features Madness, ex-Clash star Mick Jones as well as Kirsty MacColl, Wilko Johnson, Tom Robinson, Wreckless Eric, Chas & Dave and actors Kathy Burke and Keith Allen.

The entire concert will be webcast live on dotmusic and with comedians Mark Lamarr and Phil Jupitus also involved, the evening promises to be a poignant but celebratory one.

Singer/songwriter/actor Ian Dury died at the age of 57 at the end of March after a long battle against cancer. Dury fronted the brilliant Blockheads, who are perhaps best known for their 1978 number one smash 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick', for over 20 years.

Robbie Williams attended the star's funeral in April and recently took over Dury's job as ambassador for the UNICEF charity.

"We're honoured to be associated with the Ian Dury benefit show," says dotmusic Editor Andy Strickland. "I first saw Ian and the Blockheads in Portsmouth at the height of their fame - he was a brilliant lyricist and showman and they are a brilliant band. We'll be encouraging everyone who watches the webcast to make a donation to CancerBACUP."

Ian was a keen supporter of CancerBACUP which provides information and support to cancer patients, their families and friends. Ian wanted to ensure that everyone who was diagnosed with cancer knew about, and had access to, the best information and support possible. You can find out more and make a donation by visiting the BACUP website.

Stay tuned for more news of the star-studded show on Friday as and when it becomes available.
