"Drugstore Girl" by Paul Sanchez
from "Wasted Lives and Bluegrass"
D G D
She's a drugstore girl held together by wire
D G A
She smokes cigarettes, tastes of ashes and fire
D G D
tonight I bent my face to press my lips to her honeysuckle skin
D G A D
but when I looked too close, I saw fingerprints
She drinks coffee black curses herself when she thinks she's late
She's a drugstore girl the kind I always thought I'd hate
She is black and white, t.v., movies, and dropping hints
and when I looked too close, I saw fingerprints
She's a drugstore girl poised without looking like she's posed
She is fashion sense putting on and taking off her clothes
First she listens then sees what you need and zeroes in
But on her curving back I saw fingerprints
She's a drugstore girl working on selling you a new line
She's a drugstore girl she'll love you for a lunch time
Yes her air is sweet but what you're breathing are
store bought scents
And when I looked too close, I saw fingerprints
