Deathpoem's Web of Tangled Thoughts - The Vampyre Fetish

The Vampyre Fetish

Whether or not you truly believe in the existance of the undead, their legends have proliferated throughout the entire world throughout all of recorded history. The power of the vampyre is felt in all ages as the present older generations can probably remember when the original Lon Chaney movies came into the theatre. And even the younger generations who are familiar with vampyres through the popular Interview With a Vampyre , and now Pandora series by Ann Rice, the somewhat underground writings of Poppy Z. Brite's first book Lost Souls and the splatterpunk/underground writings of Nancy A. Collins' Sonja Blue Series Sunglasses After Dark.

The recent Vampyre crazes can be attributed to the sensuality that often accompanies the supposed vampyre lifestyle. The movie of Interview... helped reinforce this idea. The suductive nature of both Louis and Lestat (not to mention the whole Brad Pitt hoolpa) accentuates their seeming sexual freedom and carefree attitude desired by the more restless.

To many, the whole idea of blood-play is a complete turnoff, but the underlying sensuousness of vampires cannot be denied. Blood is a life force, and the sharing of something that personal can be paralleled to sex, and often is. However, in these next few pages, I'm going to introduce an idea beyond the common vampyre interest, that is, blood play.

Recently, I've met with and talked with quite a few people who hold themselves as vampyres. They range from psy-vamps to blood-fetishists to blood-vampyres (all of these terms will be later defined). This is not an area for the faint of heart...so please, if you don't think you can/want to handle the following information, Turn Back Now. Thank you.
