What sold the Beatles to the world in the early days...besides the haircuts...was their beat. Ringo's drumming was nothing fancy, but always exactly what was needed to make the song work. Musically, Ringo stayed in the background, yet without his sound, the Beatles would just not have been the Beatles.
While his drumming didn't (and was never meant to) stand out, Ringo himself sure did! There's the rings, and the nose, and the voice, and the humor...the personality of Ringo that makes him every much as true a Beatle as John, Paul, and George.
