In Belgium, especially in the dutch speaking part of it, this title is more accurate than ever and not just in a manner of speaking. If you know that Flanders has about 6 millions inhabitants, and if ou know that in the same area there are about 7 millions pigs waiting to be slaughtered, you must see my point.

In a time when the environmental-movement finally begins to see the first results and people realise (50 years too late) that "something" must be done, some of Flanders politicians saw themselves forced to do something about the most important problem in this area, after encouraging it for many years, a real shit problem and once again not just in a manner of speaking.

Seven millions of pigs, living in stables in unspeakable circunstances, shit a great lot. Bio-industrials, who sometimes dare to call themselves "farmers", yearly have to get rid of thousands and thousands of tons of "animal droppings". But as all their ground is filled with with stables, they have no fields to spread it on.So, what happens, farmers who have a bit of ground are busy all year trying to get rid of their "colleagues" manure. Unnecessary to tell you that this has quite a lot of negative effects on the environment. For instance, whereas about 20 years ago, when farmers spread their terrible smells two or three times a year, nowadays people who live in an "agricultural area" (=95 % of Flanders) have to face the stench all year through. And believe me, I know what I'm talking about. The stench, acid rain, the poisoining of the ground water,..., are just a few of the consequences of todays agriculture-policy.

This is the problem, but what causes it ?
On first sight, you might think the bio-industrials are to blame. Wrong !! Of course they (together with the government) are part of the problem, but the real cause lies a lot deeper.

Meat eaters are the problem !!!!!

As our economical system (I wonder if anywhere in the world there is another system at all) is based on the principle of demand and supply, these problems will last as long eat (too much) meat. If you ask for it, the bio-industrials will supply.

Next to the environmental problems, eating meat has a number of other negative effects. First of all it's very unhealthy. The human body can cope with a certain amount of meat, but knowing that nowadays the average European eats over 200 pounds of meat a year, it's not that hard to believe that unhealthy eating-habit, causing heart and bloodvessel diseases and cancer, is one of the most important causes of premature death next to alcohol and smoking.

Seven millions of pigs eat a lot. I wonder if people know where all that food comes from. Well, I'll tell you. Our pigs eat the crops of the third-world countries. Farmers in Africa, Latino-America and Asia work all year in unbearable circumstances. It's not their own land thery're working on. No way, a lot of ground in Africa, Latino-America and Asia is owned by European and American multinationals that pay their workers almost nothing. But they are the ones that collect all the profit when the corn, soja, casave,... is sold to, once again European and American cattle-fodder companies, that sell it to bio-industrials. And as the European and American pigs are having a good meal, people where this meal comes from are starving.

But hey, who cares, at least our steacks aren't too expensive.

!!! FUCKERS !!!

So next time you buy a cheap steak, think about the environmental problems, the damge you are doing to your own body, the pain and torture you're causing the animals and the everlasting misery in the poor south you're supporting by keeping up this stupid, indoctrinated habit, called meat-eating !
And think about those people who refuse to eat meat, people with a conscious who prove, by still being alive, that there are a lot of alternatives. And maybe you should consider becoming of them. Then, maybe for once, you can really be proud of not being a part of the system !!
