Clay Crosse - My Place is With You (1994) Clay Crosse's first project, "My Place is With You", showed the vocalists wide scale and tremendous range. On top of that, it demonstrated his ability to really make a good song great. His version of "Midnight Cry" is absolutely wonderful. Another song on this album, "I Surrender All" is a powerful ballad about giving your all to Jesus Christ, who gave his all for us. A definite winner. Another ballad, the title track, tells of how we don't need to live of the world, because our place is with Jesus. Clay also brings out a little uptempo in this album with "Give Him Roots." This is a funky, fun song about raising children to Christian standards. "Give them roots, give them wings, and they'll grow up to do great things." Still, my favorite song on this album has to be "What it Takes." The world looks at Jesus as someone who has to prove himself. Jesus already proved himself, when he took our place on the Cross. Still, this song says that if he has to do something else to open our eyes, he will. There is no limit to his power.
There are six other songs on this album which are all great. Mainly a soft popish album with a few uptempo songs. Definitely an album worth at least listening to. Clay Crosse - Time To Believe (1995) This album is more uptempo that the first, but still Clay manages to get in his usual powerful ballads. One such song, "His Love's Comin Over Me," opens the album on an upbeat side and is followed by the title track which is a ballad and allows us to focus on the song. "I found Myself in You" is a wonderful ballad of needing Jesus in our life. Without him, we are nothing. "Just Like He said He Would" is a fast paced song talking about Christ doing exactly what he said, he's coming back for us. The last song, simply titled "God is Love" is just that, Praise to God and his watchful hand in our lives. Tremendous way to end this album. I like this album, it shows Clay has matured over his first effort, and is definitely one for your collection. Clay Crosse - Stained Glass (1997) Perhaps Clay's Best album yet. He finally has come into his own. This album is different from the first two as there is more edgy guitar lines and instrumental work which should appeal to a wider audience. The song "Somethin's Missin'" talks about our lives. We can do everything, but if we don't know Jesus, something is missing. The first single, "He Walked a Mile" described Jesus' dedication to us. He took our sins on the cross and walked a mile with it on his back, all for us. "Saving the World" is my favorite on this album. It's a great, upbeat song about crossing the barriers. We as Christians, have so many opinions about who believes what, this song reminds us that it still all comes down to Jesus dying on a Cross for us, coming back and Saving the World. Every song on this album is excellent. It should appeal to both Crosse fans of earlier plus a newer audience who enjoy the edgier pop sound. Clay has put out a dynamite record here.
