The Backstreet Boys Get A Taste of Europe

When Nick Carter, Brian Litrell, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and A.J. McLean recently went overseas to meet and perform for their European fans, they agreed it was really cool way to see all the things that they read about in their history books. What they didn't agree on, however, was what they wanted to eat. Where some guys were excited to try foods that were indigenous to the different countries, others passed and headed straight for the nearest McDonald's.
"I'm a real adventurer when it comes to food," Howie informed us. "So in every country I would try to eat something that was a tradition of that country. Like in Ireland I had fish and chips, and in England, since they have a lot of people from India living there, I had some Indian food, like curry."
"I liked trying foods from different places too," added Kevin. "But after a while I missed some good American food."
Where Kevin and Howie took the plunge in trying different kinds of chow, A.J., Nick, and Brian preferred to play it safe.
"The food was a little to exotic for me," admitted Brian. "I'm not really into trying new things. I'm more or less just a meat and potatoes kind of man. So we spent a lot of time at McDonald's or Kentucky Fried Chicken."
"Yeah, Mickey D's," recalled A.J. "[We went there a lot], especially in the U.K., because their food sucked. All it is is bread and butter. And they use butter and mayonnaise on everything. But in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden, they had some really good stuff."
