Leroi Moore and Carter Beauford were the first to join Dave in 1991. Leroi plays many different saxaphones on stage for Dave Matthews Band. Before joining Dave Matthews, Leroi played jazz at many night spots in the Charlottesville-Richmond area. Leroi, like Boyd, was trained in the classics,one reason for the bands sometime classical sound. He playes a tenor, baritone, alto, and soprano saxaphones, and the flute.
