Savage Day - Pt 2

“Okay, how ‘bout ‘I Want You’?” Dan said, pouring some milk into his coffee.
Darren snorted.
“Yeah right! Like ‘Ooh, I want you, I don’t know if I need you, but ooh I’d die to find out…’” he sang with a feminine voice, “How pathetic! You’ll have to think of me, after all I gotta sing it!”
“All right, I get the picture. You’re not being much of a help, you know that?”
Darren moaned.
“Well, I’m not the one who keeps coming up with all these silly ideas. I’m not in the mood for this today. Wanna go see a video? I saw something called ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ in the video store yesterday.”
“Is Meg Ryan in it? Otherwise I bet it’s crappy” said Dan and took a sip of his steaming coffee.
“I guess you’re right. I mean, with that name, what are they trying to say?”
“Yeah, like ‘I’ll love you more with every breath, truly, madly, deeply do’ or something.”
Dan and Daz looked at each other, thinking. Then they burst into hysterical laughter.
“No, seriously, let’s go someplace else. This coffee house is not very inspirational” Darren said, pointing to a sign where it said: “The coolest place on the promenade”. So they left and headed for a park where they sat down on a bench.
Darren sighed and put his head back.
“Ahh… This is just a perfect day! Not too much sun, a soft breeze sweeping through the air, and Bladerunner’s on TV tonight!”
   “Oh goody…”
“Ya know what?” Darren turned to Dan with enthusiasm. “I feel like dancin’! Let’s go somewhere and boogie!”
“Okies” Dan said and they went to a new club in the area.
When they entered the loud music hit them like a wall, but soon they got used to it and started enjoying themselves. Darren spotted a girl that seemed sort of misplaced and made his way over to her.
“Bonjour my fair lady!” he said to her with his most charming smile, feeling a bit lucky. “May I bid you my arm?”
   The girl stared at him.
“No thanks, I’m a vegetarian.” she said finally.
“Okay, let me put it this way: Wanna dance?” he said, wondering what he’d gotten himself into.
“Um, I don’t really know how,” she said with disappointment.
“Oh, but that’s the easy part! Just dance to the disco!”
“What disco?” The girl seemed confused.
“The disco inside your head!!” Darren shouted and dragged her onto the dance floor.
After a short while the girl started to loosen up and soon began to cling on to Darren. This made him feel a bit uneasy and he realized that she would be all over him if he didn’t put it to an end.
“I want your arms all around me!!” she shouted to him and the look in her eyes was enough to make him panic.
“Dan! DANIEL!! Help me! What am I gonna do??” he screamed, his voice filled with desperation.
Daniel was right behind him now.
“Just carry on dancing!” he whispered to Darren, “I’ll cover for you!”
He started backing and made sure the coast was clear.
“Now, Darren! Let your body move into the doorway!!”
“GERONIMO!!!” screamed Daz and ran as fast as he possibly could, shaking off the crazy girl on his way.
The two didn’t stop for a good couple of blocks. Then Daz slowed down to catch his breath.
“Phew… Thanx Dan! I think that girl’s had one too many sips of whine.”
   “Tell me about it!”
They took a few minutes to compose themselves and started walking towards the park again.
