The Famous Rhyme

by R.J. Sadbac
July 29, 1997

"Roses are red
Violets are blue...."
No poem or flower is good enough for you

When I look at you
It's more than desire
It's someone I admire

But what are we at this hour
You but a princess
I but a coward

I wish that I could read this to your face
But what would be joy
And what would lead to disgrace?

I will not harm
I will not chase
Just wait
Until the pieces
All fall into place

"Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet, and so are you."
