We roll up the road till we know where to go
But this is where we wanna be
The present occation is our destination
A vision you don't have to see

I keep pushing the limit, afraid to admit it
I don't know when I'm crossing the line
If we make the connection, It's begging the question
Why does it take so much time?

And we drive and we drive and we drive and we drive
And we don't have to go home today
And we drive and we drive and what we've left behind
Will lead us all back anyway

We roll down the sun and send up the stars
And sing to our favorite songs
Discussion is fueled by harsh ridicule
Of things that mean nothing at all

And we drive and we drive and we drive and we drive
And we don't have to go home today
And we drive and we drive and what we've left behind
Will lead us all back anyway

Well maybe we'll drive till we find a new city
Or figure out something that we knew all ready
If I'm thinking too fast, if I'm moving too slow
My hands are on the wheel but she's in control

You know what I'm after I can hear it in your laughter
But maybe you think it's a joke
Breathe me through a filter and burn me to ashes
And leave me nothing but smoke

And we drive and we drive and we drive and we drive
And we don't have to go home today
And we drive and we drive and what we've left behind
Will lead us all back anyway
Anyway
Anyway.

HISTORY: This partial tribute to two-person road trips was written by Adam (at his house), with me contributing lines (including the first verse) and harmony vocals. At the time of the original demo (also recorded at his house), the lyrics for his last verse were:

You know what I'm after I can hear it in your laughter
But maybe you think that I'm dumb
Breathe me through a filter and burn me to ashes
And leave me nothing but crumbs

A version with his revised lyrics was recorded at Bill Groome's studio in Corning. The finished track will appear on Adam's 2001 CD, "Last Impressions".
