PLOT: The March sisters exhibit generosity during an economically and emotionally trying holiday season. A musical, based on Chapter Two of "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott.
HISTORY: In 2007, Hammondsport's annual "Christmas in the Park" festival opened with a KLP version of "The Gift of the Magi". The show, written and rehearsed in mere weeks, told the story through pre-written and ad-libbed dialog, as well as numerous Christmas songs from all musical genres. In 2008, KLP brought together many of its friends and members (including much of the "Oklahoma" cast) to take a similar approach to "Little Women".
This year, I joined the cast, which set me alongside "Oklahoma" co-star Amber Marie Payne. As the Schemers (new characters that Amber created for the show), Amber and I would attempt to connive other characters out of their money, while providing humor to the show.
The performance was prefaced by some outdoor caroling (by other cast members), and followed by a candlelight walk to the lighting of the nearby town tree.
