David's Christmas Tape 1996

track list and review by DASJr
September 1, 1997

I originally wanted to make a tape of exclusive studio performances, but it would have been too much work to set up, and none of the real musicians that I knew were interested.
However, within one day (the sunday before the last week of CCC fall classes), I managed to put together a tape of three complete holiday concerts from my audio archive, two of which had been recorded only the day before!
The tape also, to fill up space, included some appropriate tracks from my Beatles bootleg CD's.
Thrown in with the collection was a four-page booklet of info on each of the tracks.
The tape was copied and given out to over fifty people, with five of them getting "advance copies" that were given out only a day after it was compiled.
Except for the Beatles songs, I was involved in the performance of all of these tracks, which were recorded in various places on Corning's Market Street:

The Beatles, 1967:

16. Christmas Time (Is Here Again)- complete version (from "Artifacts II", Disc 3)

COMMENTS: It seems almost wrong to call it "David's" since I'm more of an ensemble member in these performances. I am, however, featured in the radio interviews.
For the East High chorus concert, I sang in the bass section. For the Coventry chorus, meanwhile, I had to sing tenor. And for the last concert, I sang a few backing vocals, but mainly played on kazoo and tambourine.
The first concert was done at the Riverfront Pavillion; the second, at Centerway Square; and the third, at Marich Music.
The sound quality is very good to acceptable. The performance quality is good to excellent.
