November 16, 1997 The Emerson Theater Indianapolis, IN Review courtesy of Anne Hepler The second Limp show I saw was definitely one of the best shows I have ever seen. Limp was the opening band for the Pietasters and the Bouncing Souls. I think I may have been the only person there singing along to every song and dancing around like a maggot, but I didn't care. Limp's shows are full of energy and life. They play as a band and not like four individual guys. The quality of the music is phenomenal and is almost impossible to match (its damn catchy too). After Limp played their set (which ended far too soon), I found enough guts to tell Phil how much I like the band and to give him a little Barbie doll I kept for good luck. I expected him to laugh or blow me off or something, but he didn't. He was actually astonished that I even talked to him. He told me they are going into the studio soon to record a new album. We talked for a long time, and after the whole show was over he found me and gave me his guitar pick that I still keep in my wallet. I also got the chance to talk to Serge and Johnny for a little bit. I never expected that a band this good would even look at a petty little girl like me. Its not only a fantastic show, but they're fantastic guys as well.

November 20, 1997 The Greek American Theater Cambridge, MA Once again Limp proved they are one of the best new bands on the punk scene (although most of the members were in bands like DHC and Screw 32). This was a tough crowd to play to. Most people there were into the local ska scene, so any pop-punk band would have a tough time getting much response. As Limp took stage my brother and I were the only people within 15 feet of the stage. This prevailed throughout Limp's performance. They played the same set as last time except they gave us a taste of a new song called Fine Girl. It rocked, of course. Musically they are amazing and the sound quality was excellent. When they were done their set, everyone moved to the stage for the next performer The Amazing Royal Crowns. I had the chance to talk to Johnny and Phil for quite some time. They are going into the studio soon to hopefully record a new album. Although they don't have quite enough new material. I also found out about a funny story of how Limp got booked to tour with Lagwagon and No Use For A Name. Apparently Phil and Joey were drunk and Joey said "hey you should tour with us." They got a call from Lagwagon's booker a couple days later and Limp humbly accepted. That's it.

September 3, 1997 The Middle East Club Cambridge, MA I was fortunate enough to see Limp at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, MA and I must say is was easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. Limp was the opener and quite frankly played better than all the other bands there (Lagwagon, No Use For A Name, Strung Out). They opened things up with Far Away and proceeded to put on a show few could match. The sound quality was superb without any of Phil's voice being drowned out, like that of Strung Out's. Additionally, they showed a great deal of energy and excitement even though I think I was the only one who knew all the words. I spoke to Phil after the show and he told me that they are really enjoying themselves, this being their first tour. They will be taking a couple weeks of vacation once the Lagwagon tour ends and then hitting the road for a couple weeks with Good Riddance. However, most of these dates will be on the west coast. All I can say is that you have to see it to believe it. |
