Hi all,

This is one issue that's worth reading! John Jennings has
received some messages back from Siobhan, and they appear
towards the end of this issue of the SSML. I look
 forward to reading your reactions.

 Enjoy,

Subject: [siobhan] London Records does it again

Hi guys, I just heard that London records dumped
Deetya's (A Swedish singer on their label)new album
because the single second single (the one taken from
Madonna's La Isla Bonita) didn't chart as high as they
wanted. The whole album was ready to be released but
they refused to release. Exactly what they did to
Siobhan. What kind of screwed up company is that? Pay
for the making of an album and all that goes with it,
and instead of releasing it to make at least some
money, they dump it. I'm surprised they have lasted
this long. I guess it was Aqua that has kept them
going.
Its bizarre that they dumped Marcy as well, as her
Jewel did sell pretty well, at least in Europe and
Israel.

Hey people,
Just a quick note to say that the catalogue number of Hormonally Yours
in the UK has changed to K3984282392 as of the first of October 1999.
Although some shop catalogues still haven't been updated (i.e. they
still say London) this means that Siobhan has moved Hormonally Yours to
Warner Music (i.e. Warner Bros. Records!!!!) Or have warner bros taken
over polygram???
Anyone heard anything else about this?? - maybe its just me going insane
but why has the catalogue number been changed from a London Records
Number to a Warner Music number??
John =)

album (US release this Tuesday- yay!), and next months gigs in LA- 04
November (I'm there!- Section 109- Row 9- Seats 9 &10) & New York- 09
November benefiting both Amnesty International & Greenpeace. In any

Seventeen again! Has anyone else been a bit freaked out by this single
and the recent film, "Edge of Seventeen" ? "EOS" is a indie film about
the early eighties & a young man obsessed with his questioning
sexuality & EURYTHMICS- no kidding! It's hysterically funny & captures
that period perfectly! They both hit a spark o' my heart in particular.
I vividly remember that era with a very warm feeling of nostalgia!

I don't think Polygram's been taken over, though there have been a lot of
record company mergers/splits over the last year. Perhaps London has
moved over to Warner??? I thought Siobhan had possibly moved to EMI
anyway! The "Passion" track "Was it something that I said" was written by
Siobhan and Sophie Muller, and was published by EMI Music Publishing Limited.

I've just realised I'll have to buy yet another copy of HY now. Oh dear......

I wonder if Warner would consider releasing the 3rd album??????

["Was It Something That I Said" is a track credited to "MGA starring Siobhan Fahey".

Feb/Mar 1998. Copies are still available directly from the publishers. Details at

Hey All,
Here's the story with Warners in regards to Shakespear's Sister:
Late last year, Seagrams (yes, the booze people), whom already owned
Universal bought and merged Polygram into the Universal family. All
Polygram affiliated labels such as A&M, Mercury, Polydor etc. were
assimilated by already existing Universal labels. A&M is now part of
Interscope, Mercury has gone from being a functioning label to an
imprint. Some labels were dumped all together, Geffen being one.
London escaped this fate because it's ownership remained outside
Polygram. When the Seagrams buyout happened, London found themselves
unhappy with the whole situation. When London left Universal in early
1999, they signed a new manufaturing and distribution with WEA
(Warner/Elektra/Atlantic. Some artists, such as Portishead and Rammstein
opted to stay with Universal. Meanwhile, the London catalogue is being
reissued through Warners. Hormonally Yours is merely an example of this.
Bananarama's Greatest Hits was reissued with Preacher Man as an added
track. Sadly though, London is still London and the powers that be who
rejected the SS album initally probably won't bother with it now.
Hopefully this cleared up any confusion! Let's be optimistic though!!!

Hi there,

I'm new to this list, and the question has probably
been asked before but, has anyone heard "what's it
like to be so wonderful"? ... and if so could they
give me the low-down on it?

[This is an unreleased track from the sessions intended for the
3rd Shakespears Sister album. It was given to some journalists
for review, along with other tracks, as it's mentioned in a 1996
interview. Sadly, no one has admitted to having a copy! Mike]

Another point, whilst looking at past issues of the
SSML on Mike's site, I was pretty shocked to see that
when people first heard the new SS material not many
of you seemed to like it that much. My question is,
now that time has past how do these people feel about
the unreleased material now? Personally from the
moment i put the CD in my player i was astonished, and
felt that it was far more consistent than the previous
two albums (this might be because i only started to
like SS with the release of I CAN DRIVE ). What is
public opinion like now that the music has had time to
grow on you?

Bye Bye

To all concerned,

I was actually very happy with the 3rd album. It definitely was
approachable to me. In my opinion, with this particular album, had it
been commercially available at the time I finally got my hands on it
(late 1996- early 1997 I think), It would have been possibly
commercially successful. But, it would have been even more successful
last year with all the retro-ness that the film, Velvet Goldmine, was
expelling.
I love most of the album in it's entirety. I was a bit disappointed
with the remix of "Do I Scare you", and the track "Dial F For Freedom"
was a bit too Alanis Morissette for my taste. All in all, the stand-out
FAB tracks for me were/ are:
"Go", "Can U Wait", "Excuse Me John", "Opportunity Knockers" and "I
Never Could Sing Any ways". The entire CD Single of "I Can Drive" is FAB
in itself. Marilyn Manson stole Shuv's melody of "Suddenly".

Really???
That's news to me and my friend, who is a hardcore MM
fan. Which song did he do it on?
While I'm yakking, I thought Can U Wait was the one
that sounded awfully Manson-ish, but I liked. And
Suddenly is still my fave, as in the beginning. It's
the only Sister song I've ever sped down the road
howling along to. :) I Can Drive has a wonderful
sentiment, but I expected it to be faster, a real
"driving" song (not that it isn't good). Singles
Party is scary and dangerous, which is to say I like
it. And that line from "Excuse Me John" -- "You
carried off a billboard 20 foot by 10/And put it in
your bedroom, now ya can't get in" -- that always
makes me smile, for some reason.
Love,
M

No.. They filed papers in late 95/early 96 and everything was finalized
a number of years ago.. It didn't hit any news until that summer. I heard
they had been seperated off and on since 93. I admire the way they were able
to keep it private. But, it is totally understandable considering the
circumstances. :(

I hear Django is quite a character. A friend saw Eurythmics in concert
in Melbourne this past week (Friday , I think) and he was peeking out from
the trees they have on stage for the encores. Every concert I have either
seen or heard about he is right there. He has the performer gene from both
parents. :) Everyone (including the four kids) are heading to America this
coming week and then back to London in a fortnight. They must be having a
wild time. Has anyone heard PEACE? It's fab. Different from their others.
But they all are. It's less sinister, but still dark.

I'm sorry I am prattling on about Siobhan's ex hubby. But there just
never is any news on poor Siobhan. And no hope in sight.

Who ever wrote this letter (possibly Siobhan) didn't say anything about
having custody of her children. I know she does not. She, of course, has
visitation. Dear Lord, of course she cares for their well being and
happiness. When a wife gets custody of children the husband doesn't stop
caring, does he?

I thought about this letter and reread this afternoon. I even rang up to
my source/chum who keeps me up to date (as much as they can since they work
for the ex) and then forwarded the letter to them. (They work for the
church>) I will probably hear back from them tomorrow. I just sent it and
they were heading home. I am skeptical and am really sorry.
Just on the surface: If Shakesphears Sister has been laid so bitterly to
rest why the salutation of Hormonally yours? Doesn't fit. TOO contrived.
I think I still need to hear how this letter arrived. An actual letter
might lend more credence. And where it was posted. Let's be serious about
the internet.

I don't like being a voice of dissent, but I am a pragmatic and a
realist. Dave has those kids right now and it is the middle of school term.
It's not hard to check this out. THey are arriving in Los Angeles today. I
did learn that today.
So maybe Siobhan wrote it. Maybe she didn't. If you read between the
lines it was not a very informative nor positive note.

{}{}{} MIAHAHAHAHA!! *Great* sense of humour! =)

John, will you be sending another consignment of letters soon? I'd love to
write something to Shuv as I didn't get the chance last time around..

=)

Best;
Jon R.

Siobhan letter!
I tend to believe that it was real! I'd be interested to know if it was
handwritten or e-mailed. I'm sure since John was behind this that this
is why Siobhan wrote to him & I can't see why it wouldn't be valid!
I must say it's really cool!
Siobhan forever!

[Sharna: it's nice to see you don't have any Y2K problems!! ;-) Mike]
