Subject: [marcella] Update on Closer video
I received an e-mail response from Marcy the other day. Any of us
who thought the Closer video for the AIDS day event meant she was "closer"
to officially releasing something are sure to be disappointed. Marcy
said that the video was shot specifically for the AIDS Day event
and is not a music video for promotion of a single. In fact, she
still has not signed a proper record deal, although she did mention another
publishing deal which I'm sure she'll mention in an upcoming website update.
I think Marcy is a great songwriter, and I'm glad she's doing all this
publishing, but I hope its not at the expense of her own performing and
recording. She did sound hopeful that a record deal may be on the
horizon, but maybe that's just my hopeful interpretation.
Believe!

Subject: [siobhan] Songwriting credits
Hi there, I recently bought a book from amazon.co.uk titled "Hormonally Yours"
about Shakespears Sister. I originally thought it was going to be a
biography of sorts, but its actually a songbook. Anyways, there's
credits to all the songwriters for each individual song, and I found
something interesting. I had already heard that Dave Stewart had worked
on several of Shakespears Sister's songs, and it is noted in the credits,
however what I found odd was that his place is inserted everywhere that Manu
Guiot's name should be. In the CD booklet for "Hormonally Yours", Guiot is
credited for co-writing "Goodbye Cruel World", "Stay", "Black Sky", and
"Hello (Turn Your Radio On)". In the songbook I have, Dave Stewart is
credited in his place for these songs. Do you think its possible that to
appear not to be involved Dave Stewart (or Siobhan, or the record company
or someone) had Guiot's name put in his place?
Another interesting thing I found is that all the songwriters were credited
with "words and music" except for "Stay" which credited Siobhan and Dave
with lyrics and music, with Marcy only being credited for co-writing music.
Any thoughts on this?

Isn't this an absolute moot point?
But, I think Siobhan was the beginning of the domino effect that made
Eurythmics stop working together in 1989. There were many factors, but this
was one of them. IMHO.

I don't believe that's true. Annie did appear in the video for "You're History" in
1990, and Siobhan, if i'm not mistaken, appeared in Annie's video for
"Little Bird", dressed up as Annie in the Savage-era blonde wig and evening
dress. Eurythmics split in 1990 was Dave and Annie's doing. I doubt Siobhan
played any role in that. They were just tired of each other at that point.

Hey, Dave,
What did Annie do in "You're History"? That one is news to me. I think I
will challenge you on that one. I am perfectly happy to admit I am wrong,
but I just would like to know. Annie "retired early that year" and gave
birth to her first daughter that December. I also am on the Eurythmics
onelist and have never heard it mentioned. That doesn't mean a great deal
though. Siobhan is rarely mentioned there.
Siobhan, however, was NOT in "Little Bird" Annie and Dave were barely
speaking then. Whom did you think she was in the video. Except for one, all
the "characters" in "Little Bird" were men. Including the you have made
reference.
Why is Annie being mentioned here? Doesn't she have her own list with Dave?
This is Siobhan list!
And still a moot point as one is still history and one isn't.....

Subject: [siobhan] That article about Siobhan
Like someone had said, the mention of Siobhan in the second article called
"Who's That Boy? in Express was very small and minor and mostly directly
towards Dave.
The text that mentions Shuv is as follows:
"...I ask him about his separation from wife Siobhan Fahey, formerly of the
Eighties girls groups Bananarama and remind him that in the past he said as a
teenager, he was deeply affected by his parents' separation. How does he
reconcile that with the effect the breakup of his own marriage might have had
on his sons Sam, 12 and Django, nine? "They're bound to be affected but I
don't think that badly," he says. They've turned out remarkable well because
we've talked about it a lot. My parents were of the generation where you
didn't talk about what was going on. What thing that affected was that one
explained it."
The major balance of the article is about his projects, the Peace album and
tour and essentailly about his present relationship with Annie.
Enough about Annie. Any Siobhan news?

Subject: [siobhan] Third album web site
Hi everyone!
I just read Siobhans letter in the SS-list archives
and
I totally agree with everyone about London Records
attitude regarding her age and children. I could not
think of anything more insulting in a situation like
this.
I wonder what she is thinking about us fans, now
spreading her words by doing something that's
technically illegal. Is she upset about the copying
or happy that the message is spread?
If Siobhan wouldn't mind, do you think it would be a
good idea to post the album in mp3's on the
Internet? This could make LR even more aggressive and
1. Make them publish the album (most unlikely)
2. Make the relationship between LR and Siobhan even
worse, even if it wasn't Siobhan that posted the
material. (very likely)
However, showing that the material is still going
strong (= large number of downloads) could give a lot
of positive publicity and perhaps make another label
interested.
Finally, there is an important argument against this
sort of action. Siobhan is (although some people think
different) a normal human being like the rest of us
and might not like the idea of some internet nerds
pissing of the "owners" of her material and making a
big show out of it.
What do you think?

Subject: [siobhan/marcella] MP3-files
Hi all,
I'm planning to make a CD with all the Shakespear's Sister tracks that
aren't available on CD yet.
I was wondering if any of you have any MP3-files they're willing to share
with me, so I don't have to sample all the recordings myself.
I'm especially looking for the Black sky - dub extravaganza part 1 - since I
don't own the promo that has this track on it....
Please contact me at mailto:ddbruin@lumc.nl if you have info.
Diana
PS: this is a long time project, so don't expect me to have the CD ready any
time soon.

As for all this buzz on whether Shuv and Annie got on well or not ... Has
anyone got the facts? One for certain is Bananarama's cameo in the video for
'Who's that girl?'(Eurythmics's not Maddona's, needless to say) in the early
eighties along with a handful of pop celebrities like
Marilyn, etc. I've no idea who directed that and I presume by the time it
was shot Dave and Shuv were probably well acquainted since D & A's
relationship had already been on the rocks for a while.
I had also spotted Shuv's lookalike in 'Little Bird' and the model does look
like her but I daresay it's a mere coincidence. Having said that , the whole
thing may make sense for both Shuv and Annie have always been Sophie's
closest friends and it was her who directed 'Little Bird' as well as 'You're
History' (where's Annie, by the way).
Well, can somebody clear it up, please?

Subject: Re: RE: [siobhan] annie and siobhan
I can clear up a few points.
1.) Unless there has been a recent change in the past few years, Sophie
Müller is one of the Oil Factory's most revered directors in their pool of
directors. (That is the video company that Dave and Annie financed in the
80's .) That company is run by Dave's older brother, John Stewart So, since
the divorcee--who knows if Sophie and Siobhan are such "best chums. " I do
have it on good authority, however, that Annie has had a falling out with
Sophie after the Diva days. There are "very good" show business freinds and
"very good" personal friends. Very often they are not the same.
2.) That DEFINITELY wasn't Siobhan in "Little Bird."
3.) Duncan Gibbons directed the "Who's That Girl?" video done long before
Dave and Siobhan began seeing one another.
No one answered---where was Annie is "You're History . It is a video I don't
remember all that well. I will have to post this query on the Eurythmics
list as everything Annie has ever done is known on that.
Also why is there that much interest if Annie and Siobhan got along? Idle
interest, I guess. Which is fine. I guess it is because Dave is getting
along so great with Annie now? But, isn't this Siobhan list? (I'm asking
that one again)
Of course most likely Annie and Siobhan have very little contact with one
another now except that Annie sees Sam and Django so much since they had
playdates her daughters for 3 years now and they were often along on the tour
that just ended. Django was at everyone, I believe. I haven't heard of one
concert that he wasn't spotted behind the speaker on stage left. On the DnA
list I believe there was a least one member at all the concerts played. So, w
e always have heard back about that sweetie. :-)
Aside from the actual facts in this post, the rest are , of course, IMHO

Here's what I know. Dave and Annie Had LONG since split up as a "Romantic"
couple before Siobhan and Bananas did the "Who's that girl?" video.
I have Never seen Annie Lennox in "You're History". Siobhan does Not appear
in the "Little Bird" video - ALL of the other characters in this video
besides La Lennox herself are DRAG QUEENS!
That's what I know,

i think its funny only to wonder what sioban and dave must have been thinking
during that video..(who's that girl) i wonder if they imagined back then
that they would be having babies and getting married.. cause they are kinda
young.... i love that song too..

version of "Do I Scare You".
The site is at:

Hi Everyone,
MTV recently published their list of the "100 Greatest Videos of All Time."
All week long they ran the videos. Anyway, of course it would be too much
to ask to expect our girl's videos to be recognized here, but I was happily
surprised to see Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" featuring
Bananarama in the group's footage. The video placed at #73.
I had nearly forgotten how appealing the 1984 era Banana girls were!

Finally for this, here is some excerpts from the other recent Dave Stewart interview
that mentions Siobhan. This first appeared on the Eurythmics mailing list

A new peace of the Eurythmics
by Alix Sharkey
He doesn't behave much like a multi-millionaire. He
doesn't really look like one either, this short, slightly
gnomic man with tinted glasses and scruffy goatee. He
stands in the canteen queue with the rest of the crew, who
ignore him. When we sit, there are no preliminaries, none
of the agenda-setting that usually precedes this kind of
interview. Sensing my concern about the clattering plates,
he picks up the tape recorder and holds it to his mouth,
the better to pick up his soft Sunderland brogue between
mouthfuls of nut roast. His girlfriend, American
photographer Anoushka Fisz, smiles patiently. She is five
months pregnant with their child. If it's a boy, she tells me
later, they think they'll call him Dizzy Lou.
The split [with Annie]? They were 'simply sick of each other' after a
decade on the road. 'Imagine you're in a relationship with
somebody, you break up, and then for the next ten years
you're never out of each other's sight. It was just too
claustrophobic.' Even holidays were spent together. It was
like being joined at the hip, he says, and it took its toll. 'In
the end, if one of us walked into the room, the other one
walked out. It was a mutual decision to get some space
from each other. The first nine years were so intense, we
needed another nine apart just to balance it out.
....As he climbs into his stage outfit - camouflage combat
pants and a silver anorak - and I start edging out of the
door, he's still talking about 'the kids', how they love
playing with his camcorder, how he took them to St
James's Park and told them to hide in the bushes and film
tourists surreptitiously. 'Oh, they loved that. Kept them
happy for hours.' The 'kids' are Django, eight, and Sam,
11, Stewart's two sons by ex-Shakespears Sister
chanteuse Siobhan Fahey, to whom he was married for
over ten years, until they separated in 1997. The boys live
with her in Swiss Cottage, but visit their father regularly.
...So doesn't it get a bit confusing, all this jumping around
between different media, directing films and pop videos,
producing other people's albums, making music with
Sinead O'Connor and Brian Eno, writing soundtracks for
Robert Altman, plus the new musical he's been working on
recently? Doesn't it ever get a bit much?
He shakes his head, and gives me a glassy-eyed smile. 'I
get really into the creative process, but I'm not really
interested in the end of it. I just love the journey. You
wouldn't believe the number of projects I'm involved in
that seem disconnected, but to me are totally connected. If
there was a book about how I feel,' he says, 'it would be
called Mad Now Disease.'
The Eurythmics play Wembley Arena on 3 and 4
December and London Arena on 6 December.
